Pure beastmode. Ya will try to get one up game-day and post-game... however I'll be in Brussels this week, so they might suffer a little.

Thanks for the Playoff game day blog NYN.

It’s a momentous occasion that was a long time coming.

I hope the haters can stand the softness and slurping to come.

Anyway enjoy the spills and thrills of playoff intensity play.

Practice lines yesterday were in the blog:

Nils Hoglander-Elias Pettersson-Sam Lafferty
Dakota Joshua-Elias Lindholm-Connor Garland
Phil DiGiuseppe-Teddy Blueger-Ilya Mikheyev

Quinn Hughes-Filip Hronek

No idea if that will stick, though

With RT it’s all about the duos which is an NHL trend too. Then he’ll mix up the 3rd guy to keep it fresh.

Unlike Bloated, I actually read the blog. Moving Lafferty to add some speed and physicality is the right thing to do.
I won't be surprised to see somewhere during this series, that they split Up Hughes and Hronek as a result of the Nashville physicality.

Should be a good series that goes the distance or close to it. The Canucks need to weather the storm at the beginning and keep home ice advantage. That'll put Nashville on the back foot and make it easier on the road. If Nashville takes a game in Vancouver then watch out, they run completely on momentum, and it'll just get harder and harder.

It’s a cryin shame the Miller and Pettersson have to play with guys like Suter and Lafferty in the top six, but it is what it is. More so Pettersson than Miller, but Tocchet likes pairs so hopefully Hog and him can create some offence together.

Trading for a guy like Crouse would have been ideal.

Hoggy had the 9th best even strength goals per 60 this season... pretty great for him. Feels like he's a player who's gonna step it up come playoffs

Well, if we’re talking about hypotheticals, I’d rather bring 1987-89 Mario Lemieux back and see if he could help. We have no idea what they did or didn’t try in terms of player acquisition.

Hog is a great down low guy, Pettersson and him work well together. Let’s hope both him and Petey have a great series.

This series comes down to depth, period.
Goalies: Call it a push.
Defense: Top End is a push, with the slight depth through D7 to the Canucks.
Forwards: This is where the big difference lies.
L1: Once again, call it a push with both teams having firepower, grit and skill.
But L2 thru L4... The Canucks should dominate the line matchups. If Petey can elevate his game, SHOOT THE PUCK, and stay upright, Nashville has nothing to counter this line. And L3 with Lindholm centering Dak and SP Elf, the Preds cant match this either. Blugey as L4 C shows the depth this team has up the middle.
Match the Preds intensity, and limit their top line, and really, this should be a straight up win for the Canucks in 5 games.

Lekkeramaki with Petey next year. I have a feeling Boeser won't be back in 2 years when we get clobbered by that OEL buyout.

Boeser now a 40 goal scorer. Going to cost a lot to resign him.

They thought they were getting top 6 help with Lindholm. Still might happen. Chances are high there will be line juggling at some point and something mat stick. They always have the option to put Blue back with Garland and Joshua and move Lindholm up.

He is going to be as annoying af for the opposition. They are going to try and kill him at some point.

Yeah fairly accurate assessment if the Nucks can score early and often they can play close-down Hockey after that if Demko holds up. Nobody is really talking about Demko and how only being back for two games might play out. He looked pretty sharp in his first game back so there is that. Shut down Nashville's top line and they have a solid shot to move on.

Garland too. Annoying little pests. IMac had a good little story from him:

During the fan-less pandemic regular season in 2020-21, MacKinnon became so angry after a reverse hit by Garland when the Arizona Coyotes visited Denver that he ripped off his opponent’s helmet and threw it underhand towards Garland’s face before the players came together and wrestled on the ice.

The bowling-for-dollars cost MacKinnon $5,000 when the NHL fined him for violently returning Garland’s helmet.

“He just threw me down and then we went at it and kind of wrestled for a little bit,” Garland recalled Saturday. “He had four points. I said to him in the pile: 'Why are you mad? You're winning 9-3 and you've got four points.’

“The next game we played them there was a scrum and I could see him come flying in and I was like, 'Oh, my god, we're going to do this again?' And he just stopped and apologized. So I appreciated that.”
