I guess I can go back to hating the guy!
Besides, it will give the Wings some room to sign Stammer and Monahan!

I mean, 8GWG, OT winner vs CHI, OT winner in the last game. ..where do we start?

Listen, for me it's more about the intangibles. Watching Kane slow the game down, watching his ability to control the offensive zone. Those are the favourite things about him. I truly wish he'd stay, he's given us another glance at greatness. His professionalism is going to be very hard to replace but he kinda mentored Larkin a bit so hopefully his impact will be felt on this team for a long time.

But, to H2's point above, gives us some $$ to do some tinkering...

Would be the blue hyper-linked article. Whilst it's not formally been released, muliple Detroit spirts entites are positing that Kane's gone based on several indicators.......

It sucks. No matter how many times we’d hear the rumor (or see the press clip) i really liked having him on the ice.

Same. When I saw the link on my phone, it was blue. When I opened HB, it wasn't under-lined nor blue. No clue why it does that on HB, but it doesn't on most other sites.

I think it has to do with https protocols, some recognize the hyperlinks and some don't.

It does. He brought so much more than points to the club. I really saw a change in the way weplayed when go into a groove, there was a palpable change. Guys like that are rare. I'd think he'd be a good coach or player develoment guy.

So, I watched some games right after the CHI game because you said you saw a change. WHOLLY agree with you, Jeremy. He seemed disconnected from the guys. There wasn't the raw emotion he'd shown before. Something seemed to have changed. Would love to see him back. All the write-ups I saw said he was looking for term, but doesn't seem to be coming from The Captain.

That's a lot of points he brought over to "restart" his career and cash in even further.
For the Wings, that just took them out of any chance to be any higher than 5th overall, IF they get lucky in lottery.
I know it's "fool's errand", but - 16ish points puts the Wings in a much better drafting position.

And all of them will be gone by the 15th pick, most likely.

And in an unrelated story... Griffins win in OT tonight in Rockford !! Berggren with a highlight goal in OT... somehow got around a defenseman 1on 1 and was able to get the puck in. I'm hoping to see a replay of it on the Griffins website soon. Griffins up 1-0 in this first round series.

This season was hard to digest as at the start of the year the finish they had would have been a big improvement but this changed when in early March they were up at least 10 points on everyone for the last playoff spot and collapsed. Lalonde ability to close the deal, is the real reason we are still not playing losing the way we did and 2 games to Arizona should have sealed Lalonde fate. Kane is leaving as he doesn’t believe that the team is progressing and wants to play beyond the regular season. If yzerman doesn’t change his coach which would be the best thing for this club he must be held to account if we do not make playoffs or at the very least get more than 91 points. Now I know some on here will continue to believe that this rebuild now in its 8th year should continue and we should trade Larkin because he is getting old and we can use the draft picks (lol). My question would be to those people how long do you believe a rebuild should be. Hire Gallant or berube or lure Brind amour with the green. Yzerman must be on a short leash if he doesn’t get rid of his pet project Lalonde.

Mornin', Saint.

Listen, looking back on this season, I see some serious coaching-related areas of concern: Husso, OTT rumble, holding lines, Gs consistent issues.....the list goes on. This season was, I think, VERY unexpected. I listen to Podcasts now (thanks to my daughters, I'm Mike and I'm a Poddicted.....), and from Freidman to Chiclets, all seem to say the same thing: DRWare a good team, played well, did more than expected, blah blah blah. Also hear about "But can they make it with Husso?" "Lyon in net earlier could've given better results...." etc...

I'm nowhere near convinced that this team was guided under the best coaching staff. From waiting until we were buried to bring Lyon in to line-blendering, to icing the same bubbas during horrendous losing skids. I think there's a serious isdue with the staff. No team defensive scheme, inability to adjust to on-ice events, Husso skating/playing the same after being "coached".

We punched WAY above our weight this year. "If Lyon had played sooner" would he have burned out earlier is something I keep asking. Why was Husso having continued issues puck-tracking, etc... If nothing else, leadership eyes should be opened to the ability of this team, but also on the reliance on the come-back. There should be a serious look at the coaches. A ton of "What if?" for sure. And, as I've stated before with drafting; looking back and acting means you win every time. However, the staff needs to be made aware that they must do better, think faster, push players to ditch bad habits. Some of it is the players we have, some of it's getting blood from a stone, some of it is leading with a forward-thinking mentality. You have got to be able to adjust on the fly. I didn't see that. You have to be able to exploit advantages, we came from behind way too much. Tons of things. Despite it all, 11 points more than last year, hung into the WC run literally through the last 3min of the season.....we got results. Talk about us replacing CAPs and being waxed all you (generic "you"), we would've benefitted from playing, and would've most-likely been 1 n done. I think the team benefitted more from the run at the end of the season (fighting to stay in contention) than we would've gotten had we made it. But we've got to have better, more focused, anticipatory ciaching that makes an impact on how we play.

I think Lalonde stays (puke emoji), but there may be tinkering on the staff. No doubt we need better scouting. The results of this season show, beyond a shadow if a doubt, this is a good team. We need better leaders.....

I wonder if they can get back on the same page. His dispatch this year made zero sense but i digress. Things change and maybe with the 3 or 4 players leaving JB can get an opening that he’s looking for

There are a couple “floaters” out there saying the gap between 1 and 10 (projected) is fairly minimal compared to past years. We’ll have a draft number in just over a week then I’ll start posting highlight reels.
