One of the names prominent on the updated Rumor Chart is defenseman Chris Tanev.

The 34-year-old checks off a lot of boxes for teams looking to upgrade their blueline. Defensively responsible, smart, experienced, right-handed…..which is why we have six teams as potential destinations. Dallas gave up a lot to get the veteran defender before the deadline and they got to the Western Conference Final for the second straight season, but they only have $16 million in available cap space unless they buyout or trade someone.

The team that is a likely destination if he gets to July 1 is Toronto. Going back to the season, GM Brad Treliving tried to get Tanev from the Flames in a trade and reportedly the Leafs offer was better than the Stars, but Calgary chose to go in another direction. Now that he is within days of being an unrestricted free agent, nothing is stopping him from signing with his hometown club.

New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Nashville are also possible destinations.
