Really interesting story that continues to devlop…

Right after the Oilers’ playoff runt ended, I reported a strong rumor that Conor McDavid, who is entering his final last year of his contract, could very well be headed to the Los Angeles Kingmlinkls in a trade.

My sources on this are very strong and as I said, this doesn’t mean a trade is at all imminent…. But something of this magnatude could be discussed for a very long time before it still happens. This is the kind of thing that general managers have to talk about way ahead of time.

Through the years of reporting on hockey rumors every day, I’ve learned that a large percentage of rumors develop out of contingency plans…Teams need to have more than one scenario in their heads as they look towards the future. Like any business, this means a Plan A, Plan B, Plan C, etc.

The Kings have been setting this up for a while. Is landing Connr McDavid a dream or do they know something? I don’t believe there’s anything like collision going on here, but they do know what all of us know…. In the end, it is up to Connor McDavid. If he wants to, he could become a free agent a year from now.

The LA market would be a very advantageous place for Connor MDcavid to play hockey. He and his wife would be very happy living in Malibu or Manhattan. And the hockey team is definitely on the rise and has shown commitment to building a wonner…..

As the season goes, and as we wait for the contract negotiations to really gain some momentum in Edmonton, this picture will be a lot clearer…. But should we get past tne American Thanksgiving the pressure will mount, mland the question for the Oilers will come down to one more run with Connor or trade him at the deadline for significant pices….

This could always change in an instance, of course…. The two sides could agree to a deal and LA would have to focus elsewhere….. however, if Connor and the Oilers comas to terms, it’s pretty hard to imagine it would be a very long deal…
