Phillips and Neil should be scratched over Weircioch and Condra, but unfortunately we gave them letters...

GAMEDAY BABY!!!!

Can't wait to sit down in front of the big screen and watch the game tonight.

I'd love to see the Sens come up with a 5-1 Win. Build some early confidence and have 5 different scorers get on the board early (Karlsson, Ryan, Zibby, Chiasson and Lazar).

I'm predicting a 3-2 Sens win though. Tight game, sens take the lead with 7 minutes left in the 3rd and hang on.

From what I've seen, Lazar is there to stay and will climb the depth chart.

If you asked me last week I would completely agree. I'd still prefer to have Pageau in the lineup over Neil. Condra is done in Ottawa, he has consistantly been overrated. With decent playing time I think Pageau could be as solid defensively, play some PK and actually not miss every wide open net. Ideally my 4 lines would all be comprised of strong skaters that can finish plays and put some pucks in the net. No need for a dedicated tough guy, although neil can play a solid regular shift. if you take out his physical element and just focus on his other hockey skills, we have a handful of players that can play the game alot better.

As for Philips, looking at the rest of our available Defenceman. I actually think he probably is good enough to remain in our top 6, unless we call up Claesson, but for now Phillips leadership puts him over the top when compared with other players with similar skills. I just think that Wiercioch will never be good enough to earn playing time in situations that show off his skills. You can't get on the powerplay if you're not good enough to get in the lineup. I'd also play Phillips over Gryba. If Gryba used his size more and played with more "nastyness" then I'd probably prefer Gryba. Unless a trade is made, unfortunately I think Phillips still fits in our top 6. Persoanlly I wouldn't have even re-signed him.

Anyways it's opening day. Let's focus on the positives today!!

SENS are a shy team. They begin the season in the West away from their comfort zone and with many kids in the line up. They will drop this game unfortunately.

Hope I am wrong.

Possible, but if starting out of hteir confort zone is a bad thing, Nashville is probably one of the best alternatives.

"Habs live up to the hype as Canada's best" This is a headline from Sportsnet this morning...

Can someone explain to me how the Canadiens are classified as Canada's best and furthermore how they could have lived up to the hype with only one game under their belt?

What an idiotic caption for an article.

I for one, (and I really could care less what the rest of the hockey world thinks) think that the Habs will be surprised and disillusioned when they look at the standings at the end of the season and see the Sens waiving down at them.

I like these predictions - switch Karlsson as the Hart winner. Think Gibson in Anaheim will lead them to a Cup - and Heatley hoists it and we all cringe

I don't get all the hype for the Habs this year. I look at their lineup and it's nothing special. Apparently Galchenyuk is all of a sudden going to emerge as a star and be a huge difference maker for them. I don't see it at all. I think they over-achieved last year and this year I think they'll be fighting to get into the playoffs.

I hope we smash them in our first meeting this year.

Sportsnet is going to make a mess of national NHL coverage. Their overall analysis is painful, I lasted about 18 seconds last night listening to those idiots. Brain dead caption for sure after one game, but being Canada's best isn't really saying much unfortunately.

Ya. I was really let down by the presentation of the game last night. All the changed was the studio. They were still pushing the worst talent they have the most. I gave them the benefit of the doubt when they scored the national rights, but last night wasn't a good start. Can't imagine what it's going to be like when they have 3 or 4 games going on at the same time.

what blows is that lazar and hoffman are gettin chained to neil. i like how mac is going with pairs here, but he could at least put condra there instead of neil.
dont see why we even have neil playing in a game against nashville.

our defence scares me.

I think your Atlantic predictions look good, but I would wager that PHI is gonna get killed, and NYI will be up with PIT and NYR. Book it
