Phillips and Neil should be scratched over Weircioch and Condra, but unfortunately we gave them letters...
- TommyDeVito

This x infinity. Take the 4th line. We have Hoff and Lazar, two young, fast, defensively responsible and intelligent players, and we hitch them to Chris Neil. Undisciplined, lazy in the DZ, and can't carry the puck through the NZ. He's a decent dump/chaser though and has hard knuckles.

Now see this. Hoff-Lazar-Condra. Certainly young, but I'd be damned if they wouldn't be one of the best shutdown lines in the East. Three speedy guys that can backcheck well and carry out of the DZ at will.

The pregame and between period stuff on Sportsnet was deadly. I switched to the Boston Philadelphia game. It was a good game.

The referee helmet cam was a winner in my book. Can't wait for the first referee to say he did not see the penalty that he was looking straight at.

Pretty good assessment of situation. There will be injuries. Changes and certainly some kind of trade effort by Christmas. I think that before the season is over we will see playing time in Ottawa for;

Pageau
Puemple
Big Buddy Robinson
Claesson

Nobody knows how they will get it done. But something will happen, it always does.

I liked them. Having them follow the play and skate up the ice was awesome. Also seeing what they were looking at when a penalty was called is a great new perspective for tv watchers.

OMG. I wanted to punch him in his stupid glass jaw last night.

Outside his normal horribleness, they started talking about San Jose and how Thornton got the A and how they have no captain this year.

Kypreos goes onto say that it doesn't make sense to give him an A after stripping the C. I got it.. I agreed.

But then, in typical idiot Kypreos fashion, he goes onto say that Thornton should decline the A, tell them to shove it, and demand a trade.. yeah Kipper.. cause you know what the room is like.. you know that if he demands a trade he is going to go to a place that is just as nice to live with a team that is just as good.

What a moron.

Kypreos couldn't demand a trade as a player cause he was too terrible and would have just been buried in the minors instead, but his advice for stars of the league is to refuse letters and force teams to trade them.

You know what's funny. Last night, they had the panel on after the late game.. it was just too brutal, so I switched to TSN. Guess what, their panel came on at exactly the same time. I stayed with TSN. TSN would be smart to make sure that happens as much as possible this year after games.

oh how I've longed for this day

Hope to see a good season from the Sens in 2014-15.. Reaching the playoffs would be nice. And who knows if they look like they have a good chance to make it come march/April maybe Uncle Eugene will open up his wallet.. .. and let Murray get some added help for a true top 6 winger or a solid top 4 D-man.

If they have a subpar campain & miss the post season it won't be the end of the world really, as they already locked up Bobby Ryan long term & they can trade some/all of Methot(if not resigned), Condra, Chris Neil, MAYBE Chris Philips at the deadline for picks or prospects & strenthen their draft in the summer.. Oh and hopefully buy out Colin Greening.

I think David Legwand has a big game tonight vs his former team in Nashville.. Stoked for the game tonight!!

Your trade scenario is a fantasy - you're thinking anyone would give more than conditional picks for any of the guys you listed? Maybe not even that. We're stuck with CP4, CN25 - we're better off seeing if Neil can adjust his game (unlikely) or Philips can help mentor some of our young D.

kypreos being kypreos. aka: moron.

what boggles my mind is HOW sportsnet couldnt conceive that fact they IF they are going to be the major national broadcaster of hockey in canada, they need to hire some real talent and seriously up their game. its just laughable. i get that its a big market and people will watch simply bc they have little options elsewhere, but still, have some fracking pride in what you put on tv.

i had issues with cbc's broadcasts last year (pj stock should not talk about hockey anymore), but thats nothing in comparison the s#^& sn is putting on air.

at least tsn has sens regional broadcasts.

I wonder if there's a way for TV broadcasters to see what the ratings are during periods vs intermissions.

Obviously, viewership is going to drop massively during intermissions, but in the case of Sportsnet, it must drop more than the average.

I honestly can't even have the Sportsnet panel on in the background. I either change the channel or pause the tv until the next period starts.

what blows is that lazar and hoffman are gettin chained to neil. i like how mac is going with pairs here, but he could at least put condra there instead of neil.
dont see why we even have neil playing in a game against nashville.

our defence scares me.

- sen_smile

your so wrong, why throw two rookies to the wolves, if I was hoffie or lazar i would be pretty (frank)ing pumped to be heading out on the ice with Neil, he will make room for these two guys, stand infront of the net and let them do there thing, they dont need Neil to carry the puck up the ice for them. I wonder if some of you guys have ever played hockey, with these comments. There is not a single team in the NHL that wouldnt want Chris Neil on there team. I know the penguins would love to have him in there bottom pairings. You dont build a team with pure goal snipers theres lots of work to do out there. lots of guys head straight to the bench when they see him hit the ice, his body checks take lots of energy out of people. why do i even have to explain his leadership and importance to anyone. give your head a shake.

You're speaking about the Neil of a few years ago.

He still has energy and leadership, but he can't play at a high enough level to be effective as a player anymore. He's a risk every time he's on the ice. Not to mention all of the bad penalties.

As for the people questioning Montreal being "Canada's best"; if you think any other Canadian team has a good chance of ending up ahead of them... well, you're crazy.

i'm sorry are you talking about Chris Neil on the ottawa senators?
he is ok in certain situations, i guess. but he can't really play hockey at nhl level anymore.

"Habs live up to the hype as Canada's best" This is a headline from Sportsnet this morning...

Can someone explain to me how the Canadiens are classified as Canada's best and furthermore how they could have lived up to the hype with only one game under their belt?

What an idiotic caption for an article.

I for one, (and I really could care less what the rest of the hockey world thinks) think that the Habs will be surprised and disillusioned when they look at the standings at the end of the season and see the Sens waiving down at them.

GO SENS GO!

Only Canadian team in the playoffs last year, made it to the Eastern Conference Final. Team is pretty much the same, some minor improvements were made. Pretty straight forward

Agreed except switch Karlsson as the Vezina winner too. Otherwise sounds about right

Happy they already got the Norris winner out of the way last night. Stuart Percy was talked about or shown at least 2837472 times.

The sportsnet coverage was horrible. Everything from the play by play to the intermission round table was a complete and utter joke.

The NHL should be embarrassed. It does not come close to the quality CBC provided.

Ya. I was really let down by the presentation of the game last night. All the changed was the studio. They were still pushing the worst talent they have the most. I gave them the benefit of the doubt when they scored the national rights, but last night wasn't a good start. Can't imagine what it's going to be like when they have 3 or 4 games going on at the same time.
- Gord_Wilson_2.0

I thought the intermission was a nightmare, but the redeeming qualities were all in the in-game action.

The camera angles were spot-on, the ref cam was an awesome new addition, and the HD and sound were both flawless.

Personally, I'm not gonna cry over the intermission being crap, CBC's was already painful to begin with. As long as the broadcasts themselves are good, I'll be happy.

The only thing wrong with last night's in-game broadcast was that Glenn Healy was in it....ugh. of all the people they could have brought over, it had to be him.
