That was pretty much all too familiar....
Phillips is just really terrible at hockey...
I thought Ceci played well though...lazar looks like hes NHL ready.. - TheMike12
Imo Lazar didn't look great out there today. Hopefully it's just first game jitters. |

Maybe the first two periods put me to sleep but I thought Phillips was fine
Ryan let the player walk in behind him on the first goal, but the biggest thing was I'm seeing zero shots in the box score. They need a minimum of 4 a game from him
Legwand looked lost. Even went into the wrong penalty box - Ottawa Fan
Forwards weren't the problem. We knew going in that the issue would be the defence and it has been. |

Did Murray secretly keep this $hitt¥ defence together for another year because uncle Eugene demanded a top 5 pick this next summer. I know it's only the first game but..
Karlsson Methot & Ceci can stay, the rest are replaceable NHL defencemen IMO. |

you thought cowen played well and lazar looked bad..........are you watching in an alternate universe or something?
cowen was probably the worst player on the ice, and lazar was one of the better forwards. |

Sens and Leaf fans can all save some time here and repost everything from last year.
We can all meet up again in 2015-2016 after both teams have drafted a pretty good player. |

it's gonna be a battle all year to see who's defense is worse. |

Ryan and Zibby were invisible, when you get outplayed by a 19 year old your problems start there.
Andy looked great
Karlsson obviously cannot contain speed wide, whoever is playing LD had to hug the far post or it'll be a long season. It's okay to keep guys wide but the game plan has to apply to both sides of the ice, can't have karlsson pushing guys wide and Cowen playing the high slot.
One game - but to be outshot like that by Nashville when we had the PP advantage makes you wake up thinking about Mcdavid |

LOL. Yeah, that's about it. |

Pretty uninspired opening game. The only guy that came to play was Anderson. Kept us in the game for the most part. I was pretty disappointed in Karlsson's play. Looked like he was playing with about 60% interest. Never once tried to use his speed. This was apparent in preseason too. More concerning in regular season play, but only one game. The game fell apart once Nashville started to pressed more than they were. We had a hard time keeping up with their pace and in turn made some major errors which lead to goals. Only game 1, so nothing too overreact about just yet. |

Won't be bad enough to get McDavid.
He is going to Carolina. |

Pretty sick of this team never being ready to play at the start of games/periods .The coach needs to have these guys ready to come out hard ,or he needs to GTFO |

I don't want to give up on Zibby as a Center but it's pretty clear this guy has Martin Havlats IQ for playing D hockey, move him to LW and let him just focus on offence, get him all primed up for taking passes from McDavid next season |

The team is playing hard enough, just not smart enough. If we could take Luke Richardssons brain and put it in Cowen and Jason Smiths brain and put it in Gryba we are a playoff team.
We are two brains short of being decent |

How many times was that wraparound going to work?
Looked like a game of NHL15 on xbox. |

Like Havlat too; he's a p**sy! |

Definitely not, he just loves to watch how fast the other team can go in the neutral zone |

i would settle for one brain for cowen, and NEVER seeing Chris Phillips in the top 4 again.
gryba is fine for playing against 4th line players in a limited role, which is all he seems to do. no real issue there. |

The Gryba/Boro combo was responsible for at least one goal against last night. Ryan also had a weak pinch back on the play too, but no reason why a winger should have to be down low on their own goal line most of the time. |

Phillips has been a pylon for 3 years. Baffling why the Sens re- signed him.
Gryba is what he is (steady, if not given too much ice) and IMO showed the most improvement last year.
Cowen flunked out of HOCKEY U along with Jake Gardiner; both have physical ability, both are HOCKEY MORONS!

It was a broken play on the PK, Ryan lost his man and he knew it. Shiite happens. Boro/Gryba weren't terrible, just ok.
The forwards were the issue yesterday. They were lost. But alas most fans will have the usual suspects on defence pegged. |

I'm not blaming anyone really. When both d-men are on the same side of the defensive zone, you know you're in trouble. It's the forwards responsibility to help in that situation, but it shouldn't happen in the first place.
As I said earlier, only player that came to play was Anderson. Let's hope for a more inspired play on Saturday night. |
