I was being sarcastic.
I loathe this management group & coaches, the owner even more and the fanboys even more. I'm here for the hate. - Marwood
i'm beyond dislike/hate. i honestly find this comical.
i've never mentioned on here but i've actually met FA and been to his house. this was a couple years before he owned the team (2000ish) and i had no idea who he was other than a really rich guy. the girl i was seeing at the time did some work for/with FA's wife. so, i went with her to their house a couple/few times. this was the house at UBC (right by the religious studies building - St. Marks College? Bloated, you know.) anyway, i met him a few times. i'm not his friend and he wouldn't know/remember me. just a little chit/chat. wouldn't even classify as acquaintance at the time.
the only impression i had was, "wow, he's really rich, huh?" then i talked to him for a bit. then remarked to my gf... "it's family money, huh?"
he comes across exactly how you think he would. |

You don't hear anything good about that family. Too bad Gaglardi got f*cked over by the Aquilinis. I don't think the Aquilinis are going to enjoy a full (probably not completely full) arena. The crowd is going to call for blood after the first effortless game or losing streak. They might have bought themselves some time over the summer but it will get ugly fast. Hopefully, a few players ask for trades this summer to keep the drama in the headlines. As a fan, I find the rumoured Sedin addition to management, insulting. It suggests we are stupid and easily appeased by 'positive' PR moves. I haven't hated the team this much since the Keenan/Messier days. |

i hated the team then. this is nowhere near that.
i don't like what's happening. i don't like management. i don't like ownership but i don't hate these guys.
...which is probably worse. i'll use the word hate for keenan/messier because those guys were smart and machiavellian.
these guys are just dumb and inept. how can (the universal) you hate them? |

A close friend of mine works in advertising in Vancouver, his business partner has met Benning several times. His impression of Benning was dumb and arrogant.
I agree about hating Keenan & Messier because they were evil & conniving but I can't hate Benning & Co. any less because they are retarded hand puppets. In the mean time, I'll piss off the leg-humpers with my "whining" & hate. |

the funny thing is that if you read between the lines, even the benningtons know what's going on.
they just don't want it said out loud or repeated because that acknowledges that the 2 years to contention claim might not be right.
pretend there are only external reasons for the problems and that allows them to have an optimistic feeling about the future.
optimism is good right? if you're going to get into a car accident anyway, who cares if you see what's coming or not. |

Is it 2 years to contention or 2 years to making the playoffs?
Either answer is wrong for a drafting guru GM who said "we can turn this team around quickly".
Anyway, I don't want to leave neem alone for too long, we're bonding. |

I'm not sure how much I can put into another season with the clown show. Games start here most nights at 10-11 pm. I'd rather be sleeping to be honest.
I find it difficult to follow the NHL here, more difficult than to follow the NFL when I lived out west. There you had to start football at 10AM on Sundays which meant taking up your entire day. With hockey, you turned on the early game while you made dinner and went from there.
Here the NFL starts at 2PM, you get half the day or more if you start late. The NHL however begins when at 8PM. Some nights i'm asleep by 10. |

He is the easiest guy to suck into a topic like that. Always fun when he uses the same 5 people, when there are literally dozens of very good smaller players in the league.

The whole Residential School situation has finally reared its ugly head. Pathetic look on this country
and the Catholic church.
I remember some people who were deniers of any wrong-doings at these schools, and I am sure they will still be deniers, these same people are covid deniers, what a bunch of disgusting fascist fucking pigs. |

It's beyond awful. It is hard to put into words what a tragedy it is. I'm embarrassed to be Canadian.

Not sure how many of you are religious, nor do I care, that is your problem.
How can religious groups even hold there heads up, after finally finding all these kids at Residential Schools.
(frank)ing Genocidal supporters, warmongers and intimidation tactics is all I have ever known religion to be. |

I remember hearing about potential burial grounds, many years ago. It is to bad that it has taken so long to find 1 of these burial sites.

I'm a little torn on the subject myself. What happened is absolutely atrocious, there's no defending it at all. What I don't like is always asking for financial compensation. It's gross as well, yet we keep paying.
It's not like the money even makes it down to all the families, anyone that's ever been to a reservation knows that there is a class system there based on who you support, know, etc.
How do reservation leaders make substantially more than the PM yet cry for more help for such things as potable water?
I realize this probably won't be a popular take but I have to go with what I see. |

Some of what you are saying might be true, some is definitely false. Many reservations in my area anyways, have systems and people in place to deal with many different situations that arise, like the above noted travesty.
When funds are allocated to these Reserves for dealing with survivors and the loss of loved ones, resources(which cost money) are put in place to help in the grief or the woken memories of those that have suffered.
Unfortunately, like any community/government structure, sometimes resources get misused or poorly allocated, this does not mean we as a society should stop helping out in addressing the wrongs that people have suffered.
If we were to blame the victims or the people asking for resources to correct these wrongs, then we have failed as a society.
We allow our leaders of all political stripes, Conservatives, Liberals, NDP etc to continually misuse our resources or give contracts to their buddies etc, but if other groups/communities do that they are just beggars, this is so wrong, in so many ways.
This particular situation is about genocide by the state and the church, because the original inhabitants of this land would not let go of their culture. This is something that we, as Canadians have fought against forever, but have closed our eyes to in our country. Why? |

The church needs to be providing the funding for the resources to help with the healing. The Catholic church needs to admit it's role and apologize. They are the only church to not acknowledge their role and offer a formal apology.
I'm not absolving the federal gov't. This hideous chapter of Canada's history needs to be taught in our schools. No more hiding, no more excuses. |

Now this is heavy and delicate stuff and I have to be careful what I post. I have very strong views on this and I don’t want to piss anyone off.
Saying that, I’ve said it to anyone who will listen... I’ve always thought that residential schools and reservations were tools of genocide. I can’t believe that we haven’t addressed this yet and it’s 2021. We as a country ignore the issue and just throw money at it and hope it just all goes away because it kills the narrative that Canada is a socially advanced, compassionate nation.
The 70s would have been a perfect time to address but elected governments don’t want to touch the issues. So we continue with the same inadequate system that continues to destroy most First Nation communities. Only the bands that benefit from geography demonstrate success.
Sorry, got to slow down... |
