I’ll throw out two scenarios that Trump was not good for Alberta, softwood tariffs and the Keystone XL pipeline.

Alberta purchased the Keystone XL pipeline for $1.5B of tax payer money on Trump’s promise to get it built. Trump doesn’t have the power or had a lack of understanding to make it happen. Much like the border wall. But lil Kenny jumped head first without thought and it cost Albertans big time.

The softwood lumber industry in Alberta employees a lot of rural folks. It’s an important industry in that province. Tariffs on the industry closed a lot of mills and cost small communities many high paying jobs.

The real problem is Trump’s sloppy administration and Albertan government’s blind trust in the guy. His policies generally have a negative effect on small town communities that rely on resource industries to survive.

You’re correct in saying it’s not all him but he doesn’t help either.

I said it many times now, I vote progressive conservative. Voted green once just to get another voice in parliament as the three typical national parties are stale. I did vote for Chrétien once because of that whole Shawinigan handshake thing, one of the best moments in Canadian politics.
