They played poor enough to lose regardless of officiating.

Correct.

A positive - this wasn't as bad a performance as the Blues turned in for Game 1 of the Conference Finals. We know they can bounce back.

Negative - Boston is a better, deeper version of the Blues in every area, so the Blues have to be at the top of their game and they weren't last night. Boston's physical play was better, their offense from the defense was better, their fourth line was better. Rask was never tested after the second goal.

Stupid penalties by the Blues. By the fourth PP for Boston, it was just a matter of time for them to score.

Edmundson's turnover was a glaring error, but you have to put at least half the blame on the forward for being so far up the ice. Way too much of a gap between forwards and the D. Edmudson really didn't have anywhere to go with that puck.

Positive - as much as Boston dominated the last 39 minutes, it was 2-2 going into the third and still very much a game until the empty net.

On to game 2.

As Chumbawamba once said, I get knocked down, but I get up again. You are never gonna keep me down.

Let's go boys.

The Blues didn't play their game last night, especially in the 2nd and 3rd. Too many penalties and not enough pressure.

Berube and the boys will turn it around and play better in game 2. Game 1 SCF gitters are out of the way, come out flying in game 2.

I agree with most of this. If you saw the Krug replay, he was gliding from roughly the blue line to the check. The game frustrated the hell outta me. The Blues didn’t adjust after the first period. They didn’t make their own breaks.

That said, when you’re on a power play and your man advantage is negated by a slash that breaks the stick? It could’ve changed the game...

Curious to know if Chara just got bloodied on the forearm from Tarasenko’s shot or if it broke a bone...

Krug losing his mind like that means to me that he is not responding well to the heavier play of the Blues. A long series favours St.Louis.

I thought to myself, I sure hope Krug keeps passing on taking possession of the puck in favor of taking himself out of a play to make a hit. Maybe he is learning something from Backes

Unfortunately, the Blues got distracted (officiating, throwing hits, etc) and didn't stick to playing their own game. I was hoping we were past all of that but if it's an isolated step back before more steps forward than so be it.

Now that Thomas is out, you still ok with Krug taking himself out of a single play to take Thomas out of all of them?

Thomas has been hurt (and probably worn down) and ineffective since most of the Sharks series. The hit isn't why he is out tonight.

At least he has been playing smart hockey though. Maybe not nearly as dynamic but making smart, good plays.
