its not KoolAid... its Labatt Blue
two questions?
1) has there been a game the entire playoffs in which the Bruins have won and their hasn't been an officiating "controversy"... nah... don't bother responding, the media coverage makes it pretty self evident.... Bruins fans should enjoy the ride, its very unlikely that so much "good luck" will happen year over year
2) which Blues player will be suspended for Chara getting the puck in the face? - BorjeFan4Ever
Labatt's Blue.... that's on par with Molsen Canadian... yeeech!
I agree, the officiating is very swingy. I think I know a few Timbit's refs available for the rest of the series. |

Very impressive "response" game by the entire blues team and their young goalie. Their pressure on the puck and puck carrier has been relentless.
I said from the beginning the bruins were the team to beat and my choice for the cup winner. If they prevail (and they will) I expect them to win the next 2...then Rask is your con-smythe winner.
I want to ask you blues fanatics this question: what transformed your team from bottom dwellers with the blackhawks to within 2 wins of a cup? It's an amazing accomplishment.
I don't follow blues hockey that closely so I can't pin it on anything but the coaching change and the play of binnington. I never though Jake Allen would ever take this team to a cup. |

Berube plain and simple. He got the team to buy in and play for each other. Then Binnington started stealing games as well. When they win the cup (and they will) I guarantee there will be a movie about this team. It already seems like a Hollywood script. Blues in 6!!!!!!!!! |

I've read a lot about officiating this playoff year... lots and lots of words that begin with S to describe the officiating...
"swingy" is not one of the most popular words.... unless your implying there's Boston on one side and San Jose on the other.

Carcus....amazing to see how different the hit on the Tank looked live vs the replay? Looked bad live from my angle but very embellished it appeared from the replays I saw. - Jason Millen
Yeah, it looked bad from my angle as well live. But looking at replays today it looks like he sold it after getting a glance. He definitely sold it some even if it did get him better than it looked as he really put his head back after the hit when the contact came from the side. |

Binnington's play has been a huge factor. He has been so consistent. If he has a bad game (like all goalies do on occasion) he always follows it up with a strong performance. Binnington didn't let us have any rough patches once he got in net.
The other thing I want to point out is that we have had a very good team all year, but it took some time to develop the chemistry and Allen didn't play well. They never should have been in the position to be in last place in the NHL in January. They were way under-performing. And it finally clicked once they got the consistent goaltending.

I agree on Binnington. He has none of the mental issues Allen does. The team in front of him needs more credit though and everything Berube does works. |

It's had a cumulative effect that all started with Binnington. The team was pretty much in place from training camp, Berube had already been on a the job for a few weeks and nothing was really changing.
Everything changed when Binnington stepped in. It was like a light switch came on.
Everyone deserves credit for the roles they've played, but everyone was able to settle in and just focus on doing their individual jobs once the goal tending settled down.
Side note: does anyone else see Steve Ott getting scooped up by someone as a head coach in the very near future?
Side note II: anyone else see the ESPN piece done on the south Philly bar where the boys found "Gloria"? It's very cool. This little pocket in South Philly that's become a Blues hot spot.

We've had this discussion in an earlier thread. It's not so much a bar as a Mummer brigade's clubhouse. Members of the brigade use it as a gathering spot. I think there is just a beer license, but I may be wrong. (PA has state liquor stores and some think too limited licensing for establishments that sell beer, wine, and spirits.)
I'm pretty sure that if it came down to the Flyers v the Blues, they'd be in orange and black. |

This all day. There had to be some attitude adjustment and some line combination chemistry worked out. If I’m Schenn at the beginning of the season, I’m feeling a little bit unwanted as they went out and got ROR.
Wasn’t there also a defensive coaching change? Our defense looked out of sorts at the beginning of the year. Oh, and Petro’s triplets...
Anyone see the Hockey News article about Chara’s potential broken jaw? https://thehockeynews.com...-life-without-zdeno-chara
I hope that he is ok. That would be a huge break (very punny, I know) for the Blues... Hockey News suggests that Backes might have to sit for a seventh defenseman... |

Unfortunately the THN is already old news. Based on events today, it appears Grizzy is likely to play. It will be very interesting to see if Chara plays or not. If they go with 7, I wouldn't be all that shocked if Chara and Grizzy make the 7.

That would be a mistake. You don't want to play 7 defenseman and possibly not be able to play 2 of them much/at all because of their injuries. Grizzy shouldn't be playing this early if he had a concussion that he needed to go to the hospital for. I mean, there is no way he should be cleared this quickly IMO.
Chara with a broken jaw is going to be a liability in this physical series. They are better off not playing. They would also be short on forwards if they play 7 D. It is a recipe for disaster for the Bruins.
But lets be honest, I am ok with that if they want to go ahead and shorten their bench. |

If the Blues can keep up the aggressive, effective forecheck, making in the play hits on Boston's D, that would be a good recipe for potential success especially since I am betting at least Chara plays.
My point though is that I don't think you can play both Chara and Grizzly unless you dress 7 D because of their injury situations. |

Yeah, I get that. They have to play an extra D if they are playing both of them or if they are playing just one of them IMO.
If they play 7 D and they have to really shelter either of their minutes, they are going to be shorthanded on defense as well as offense. Very risky, especially with how the Blues play. |
