Chevy was in the Ritso trade but glad he didn't pay the ask. Philly vastly overpaid for a guy who will be a UFA in a year. Risto was only worth it for the right price and that price didn't involve Heinola . |

Believing in your youngsters and calling yourself a cup contender are two different things. Based on that low bar Ottawa's cup window is wide open now. - BWJumper
Honestly? If they found a way to lose Murray and Ziatsev, and signed Hamilton, they’d be an absolute sleeper contender |

I’m the big D guy but I’m so glad Heinola wasn’t moved
Looking forward to his development and play. I’ve been impressed with him so far
Could be overpay on UFA route for Jets on D |

Well the ask for 1 year of Seth Jones is Debrincat or Dach from Chicago so it could get worse.

I heard that! Imagine Dach for a potential rental D….insanity.
If Buffalo moves Eichel and Reinhart with deals similar to this Risto trade we could be seeing a franchise get on track.
Kevin Adams gets an A+ for return for Risto |

Don’t you worry! We are about to announce the long term signing of Derek Forbort. He’s definitely going to bring up the average size and weight of our defensive core. So next years defense so far looks like:
Morrissey
Pionk
Stanley
Demelo
Bealieau
Forbort
Heninola
Samberg
Poolman*
Niku
*Most likely coming back.
Looks like Chevy’s job on defense is done! |

Say what anyone wants about the overpay by Philly. They have added Ryan Ellis and Rasmussen Ristolainen to a defensive core that already has Provorov and Sanheim. Looks they are going all-in for next year. There is something about that I admire. |

The Jets need to give Heinola, Stanley and Samberg a fair chance to play with the Jets this season. I hope they don't re-sign Forbort, Benn and Beaulieu as they don't make the Jets better. If this team doesn't make changes to their roster they will have no chance at making the playoffs this season let alone challenge for the cup. |

At the price that Dmen trade for maybe Chevy should just draft nothing but Dmen in every round in every draft and then use some of the extras as currency to get the forwards he needs ( or get them through free agency ). Unless potential top 10 guys like Lysell , Sillinger , or Lusiac remain at 17th pick , I think it will surely be one of the Dmen I mentioned that gets drafted by the Jets. |

TBH I wanted Risto fairly badly. But not for a 1st and a 2nd! If he was signed long-term perhaps I would have paid the price, but he can walk in a year.
Philly must have good knowledge that he will re-sign in Philly and for what price.
We want to update out D, but not sure there is a d-man in the NHL that we can all agree upon. Think we could mention prime-time Bobby Orr - and someone would say "over-rated" - or "unsound defensively." That's just life.
Oh well, maybe we got something bigger coming our way - maybe not!

Disagree. Fair chance to make the team, absolutely. But playing 2 rookies and a sophomore in the top 6 likely does not serve as improvement in the teams defensive issues, and would not be fair to ask of these young players and their development. Depending on who (or if) Chevy adds this off-season, Stanley should definitely get a look in an increased role with greater responsibilities, but the competition should exist between Heinola and Samberg to grab one spot and keep Beaulieu at bay as the 7th d-man.
Example:
Morrissey - Demelo/"new hire"
Stanley - Pionk
Heinola/Samberg - Demelo/"new hire"
Beaulieu
I think that's the best we're going to get under Chevy & Maurice.
Let's hope they aren't mislead in thinking (again) that it's better to sign some spare part and play them on the bottom pairing cuz it's better for the young guys to play big minutes with the Moose!

Chevy does not really do much in the offseason. In the last 10 years, how many major offseason improvements has he ever made? The man clearly enjoys his summers off! |

That’s Jansen Harkins and a 2nd for a top line forward btw.

Rangers are either making room for an Eichel push or making room for an expensive RFA offseason in 2022 |

He’s going to sign a contract with StLouis though that will be in the $5-$6 range and I’d rather spend on D
Very good player though |
