He’s going to sign a contract with StLouis though that will be in the $5-$6 range and I’d rather spend on D
Very good player though - jjonah
Yeah, but if the got him that makes Copp a 3rd liner that the Jets are going to pay 4+ for, so trade Copp and pay the extra 1 million.
Though I also have doubts the Jets are going to get a 5+ million defenseman. |

Just saw that, too . . . sounds like Van gives up 9th overall and gets ARI to take Eriksson, Beagle, and Roussel. That's pretty huge, and say what you want about OEL, I think it's a win for Vancouver, IMO

Yea for a bunch of "garbage." Oh well, had no interest in OEL anyways. Too many $$$ for talent.

Coyotes move up 2 spots from forfeiture 😂😂
Petersson will like OEL being there |

That’s Jansen Harkins and a 2nd for a top line forward btw.
Wake up any time now, Chevy - Rexypoo
There's a bit of overvaluing of Harkins and undervaluing of Blais in that statement, but I get what you're saying.

Ristolainen also fails the eye test with hilarious consistency and thundering dumbassery - Rexypoo
and then you need to take it a step further and consider:
a) this is a guy with a solid skillset with athleticism and professionalism
b) can we put him in a better situation that will either teach him to use his skillset more effectively or compliment what he is best at?
c) how will he fit in an environment where we believe that team is more than the sum of its parts? |

The fact that that’s all it took for Arizona to say yes is absolutely fantastic. I love the idea that they know OEL is bad and Vancouver doesn’t |

2.0 , you'd have better luck having that debate with a rock. He just doesn't get it just like he didn't get the Pionk trade, Enstrom, Dano, Postma, Chariot , etc etc.

A) He has a very weak and limited skillset. He’s also got a bit of a reputation for being dirty.
B) No. The Jets have neither the system or personnel to even effectively hide Ristolainen, let alone bring forward some hitherto unknown strengths.
C) He will be a lighting rod of criticism, and likely draw the ire of a fan base unwilling to admit its current core players/coaching staff aren’t as good as they’re supposed to be. |

Man a lot of GM’s making me thankful we have Chevy today with some horrific moves
Benning and Fletcher wow!! Can someone pay me as much as these guys make to do there jobs as poorly as them |

I have this a landslide win for AriZona!!
OEL hasn’t been good in four years and has 6 years left!! Even with AriZona eating 1.2 million that’s still a 7 million cap hit for 6 years. All the buns AriZona took onky have one more left, and they got a 1rst, 2nd and 7th round picks
This is a huge win for Zona |

Only way this is a win for Arizona is if they get Mathews in free agency as it looks like they are setting themselves up for a run at him. And, we will not know that for 3 years.
Otherwise Van did good, got the two best players in the trade. |

OEL makes Vancouver worse. He is not good and is now there with a 7 million cap hit for 6 years.
I like Garland though
Chevy- call Benning and get Boeser !!! |

OEL has been carrying Arizona's defense for years. I can't even name another d-man on that team. |

The previous analytics GM who took off on Arizona left a mess.
I give them credit for doing what they can to start over.
Added Ladd, Ericsson, Ghostbiere, Beagel, Roussel
But also added a great 1st rd (9th) , four 2nd rd picks a 3rd and a 7th
Some short term pain but have the cap space
Not many options for them |

a) scouting reports say he has a big shot, skates well, strong physical play, good offensive instincts. *and Jets could use a bit of dirty*
b) he wouldn't have to be the 'go-to' 24 minute/night guy in Winnipeg, no leadership expectation needed and would be a welcome change of scenery that often brings out some positives
c) no he won't, we have Forbort, Beaulieu and Maurice for that. He might be the tallest but wont be the lighting rod. I agree that the current coaching crew has had their chance and has not met reasonable expectations in the past three seasons. |

This kind of proves you haven’t seen how bad he’s been for years. Hlarmason, chychrun, demera, goligoski arw all there. AriZona d was actually quite a bit better than Vancouver’s last year and will now be better without OEL and with Ghost where Vancouver‘a d just got worse if that’s possible |

This is a bang on!!! The cap dumps are all gone in a year or two. The amount of draft equity obtained is massive and dumping OEL on Vancouver was brilliant |

I thought the guys they dealt had more term left than they do. Ouch! So on the $$ side I'll give it to you. Can't discount the addition of Garland, though, and I honestly don't catch a lot of Arizona games to make a fair judgment of OEL's game, declining or otherwise.
Unless you're a bonafide superstar, it doesn't seem any long-term contract north of 6 or 7 million is a good one! |
|

Next years draft is supposed to be pretty good, AriZona now has 5 picks in the 2nd round. AriZona will only have 5 players under contract after this year. If I’m the GM there, I’m loving this!!!! Blank canvass to do whatever I want |

Arizona wins. There is a ton of value in that 1st round pick let alone the other picks. I do really like Garland who might be a good fit but OEL is overrated and overpaid , especially with his long-term contract.
I would say Matthews is almost 100% lock to go to Arizona in 2 more seasons. So yes, things should be looking pretty good when he arrives.
