And he wants the "Montreal" experience so that is where he wants to sign.
But it would be nice to have some type of agitating player on the team that gets under the oppositions skin like Mr. Perry. - Old Flopper
Nick Ritchie would be a good addition, has size and sandpaper to his game. |

One wonders how some of the teams such as Buffalo , Ottawa, and Detriot will get above the minimum cap of $60 MM as all three are about $10 MM short with only T. Rask as one of the few expensive free agents remaining.
Of course, Buffalo has Dahlin as an RFA to sign and Ottawa has Brady T. However as RFA's those won't be huge numbers. Detroit puzzles me a bit . I guess they could take on a bad contract or two from another team. Maybe Chevy can pawn Beaulieu to them for some extra cap space. The Jets also still MAY have to trade one player away with the top candidates being Demelo, Copp, or Pionk.
TB and Vegas also have to shed at least one salary. TB has three Rfa's to sign as well and Vegas has to sign Nolan Patrick. |

He didn't get qualified from Boston and appears to be lots of interest.
From the Toronto Star: Nick Ritchie, whose game mirrors Hyman’s forechecking and puck retrieval. The 25-year-old from Orangeville, Ont., played all 56 games for the Boston Bruins last season, posting 15 goals and 11 assists. His cap hit was $1.5 million.
Looks like NYR and TO are interested. 6' 2", 229 Yikes! Someone text Chevy! |

According to Dreger yesterday, it seems that the Jets are not finished yet. I am hoping for another big move. Makes things exciting! |

On another note would hate to be a Canes fan right now.
Traded away a potential franchise goalie in Nedeljkovic for peanuts.
Lost Dougie Hamilton in Free Agency.
Lost Peter Mrazek in Free Agency.
Signed Injury prone goalie in Freddy Andersen.
Signed Tony Deangelo (Yikes).
This while the franchise was on the verge of really breaking out! |

Pretty sure Detroit has to sign Bertuzzi yet as he's an RFA so he'll take up about $4-5M or so.
Detroit acquired Leddy and signed Osterle and Staal so I think they're set on LHD and have plenty enough RHD, doubt they'd want Beaulieu and don't think it's worth sacrificing picks to dump him, he can be buried in the AHL for almost full cap relief so why lose even more assets for at most a couple hundred thousand in cap space, he's likely the #7 dman anyway. |

Chevy said he hopes to get Copp and Pionk on long term deals but the cap is a factor. Need the player to cooperate with low salary for couple years to get both done I’d think.
Worst thing he said he Comrie is the backup, “he’s earned it” type of comments…. Unless something changed he is not an NHL goalie
8 years 9 games 4.07 GAA .873 save %
Ritchie would be great here
Tatar on a 1-year deal could work as well

Agree. I don't see how being put on waivers by 3 different teams earns you a back-up position.
Good news based on the schedule he might only play 4 games by December.

lets face it... Comrie hasn't shown enough for us to have any confidence in our goaltending if Helly gets injured. He may be the backup to start the season but I would put money on the Jets picking up a tender at the trade deadline if Comrie is 'next in line' to Helly.

There will be another goalie signed, once the Copp and Pionk deals are done.
Chevy will see who is left that will sign for $1 million.

Surprising but good. It means Ves will get a shot this year, and has a spot on pp2

I'm pretty sure now that his entry level contract is done, he is not waiver exempt. So it would be hilarious if they put him on waivers to make Comrie the back-up and lose Berdin to a team like Arizona for nothing. |

According to CapFriendly he's still waiver exempt, also he's signed for one more season after this one so doesn't need a new contract until the summer of 2023. |

Pretty sure I heard Chevy / Maurice say that Ves would get regular shifts this year at the end of last season. I also believe he is very ready for regular shifts on the main squad.
I do believe Frenchie could have played another year on the Jets on the 4th line as a utility player. It's not like $900K was a big-ticket for some depth. He was essentially a second/third line utility-type player for his NHL career with the occasional burst of offence. No one will forget his 5 goal game which was the first to win a fan a cool million dollars. Likely owns the NHL record for most time spent fallen on the ice . I doubt anyone else is even close. Wish him the best for his swan song in Hab land. |

Didn't Perreault only get four goals in that 5-goal game you're talking about? Wasn't he stopped on a break-away for his 5th goal - or am I dreaming?
Regardless, he left it all on the ice every shift! Will miss him!

Perreault got 4 and put the puck between Al Montoya’s legs late, but he managed to stop it just before the line.
Some Finnish guy got the 5 against St. Louis |

I will give Chevy props for not signing old guys to play the fourth line. He's going to force Maurice to play Harkins, Gustafson and Vesalainen. I am just hoping they get some ice time. |

Flashback- I am still pissed about the department of player safety decision to suspend Sheiffele for the hit on evans. The trigger for me today was a clip of the Krug hit in the playoffs a couple years back. He came three zones hard and launched himself at the first body that was close- it seems 55’s mistake was not removing his helmet first. Krug hit was celebrated and got Krug a raise, shiefele hit got a good clean hockey player demonized. I still don’t understand why it was illegal unless the rule on charging or the enforcement of it has changed. Thanks for listening, Bettman sucks, go Jets go. |
