Yes, recalled it wrong.....hopefully not the onset of early-stage Alzheimer's. - jetsnation
Better you than me. Trust me, you had me worried about what I remembered. (or didn't)
What I thought I recalled was Matthieu saying something after like this "If I knew it was worth that much to the fan I would have tried harder." (for the 5th goal)
Maybe Kyle C. this season?

Both Scheifele and Connor are going to want to get off to a fast start in hopes of being selected to the Cdn and USA Olympic teams ( so long as Canada doesn't boycott ). I personally believe both those players are locks to make those teams. Wheeler is a wild card. Ehlers should play on Denmark. |

I will give Chevy props for not signing old guys to play the fourth line. He's going to force Maurice to play Harkins, Gustafson and Vesalainen. I am just hoping they get some ice time. - TheUltimateJet
DONT SAY ANYTHING. Silence. Don’t even think about that. The terrible 4th liners usually come late in the summer. Thompson and Hendricks came a month into free agency, and Lewis was out of camp |

Barring injuries, Connor, Scheifele and Ehlers are locks to make the respective teams. Like you say, Wheeler is a wildcard.
Hellebuyck will be a lock as well.

Hopefully Chevy is using the "Moneyball" strategy on PoMo where that MLB GM traded away the players that the coach continued to keep playing despite having younger talent in the organization. I think that is how I recall it......
So, he traded them away for picks. So, if Chevy doesn't sign these slugs (hopefully) then the coach has to play the talent already within.
I would make an exception for Nick Ritchie tho...... he can sign him |

Chevy said he hopes to get Copp and Pionk on long term deals but the cap is a factor. Need the player to cooperate with low salary for couple years to get both done I’d think.
Worst thing he said he Comrie is the backup, “he’s earned it” type of comments…. Unless something changed he is not an NHL goalie
8 years 9 games 4.07 GAA .873 save %
Ritchie would be great here
Tatar on a 1-year deal could work as well - jjonah
Both of those guys would be great adds for the Jets, also I'm in the minority but I really think the Jets need another top 6 winger like Tatar if they want to contend and some more toughness in the bottom six which Ritchie would bring. |

Perhaps I'm in the minority as well, as I also think the Jets need another top-6 fwd. Not sure if Tatar is the answer, but have no alternative at the moment. But some 25-goal scorer who plays both ways. Hard to find!
Not a huge Ritchie fan, but I guess it would depend on the $$$. Hopefully the bottom six guy is someone who is either relentless on the puck and can kill penalties or tough guy. If both great!
You know, someone who reminds me of Brandon Tanev. Can Santa Claus come early?

That was the problem with Corey Perry. He doesn't kill penalties or do much on special teams anymore. I'm not really sure why TB acquired him. They lost their top three PK forwards in Gourde, Goodrow , and Coleman and have replaced them with nobody. I predict problems for TB in that department. I bet they drop to the bottom half of the league.
Ritchie I would take for his toughness and positive metrics. However I don't believe he does much PK time and there are some voids in that department that Maurice needs to fill . He, therefore, is not the perfect fit much the same way as Perry is not in TB.

I think a top 6 and a bottom 6 utility player can be a trade deadline acquisition, unless something falls into our laps sooner, or a trade involving someone more established like copp, and/or one of the lhd's brings in an upgrade.
The beauty of waiting for the deadline is that the kids will play more so we can either give them a bigger role or set them free. |

David Krecji going to back to Czech Republic? What?
I was hoping that we could have snagged him. Would have been the ideal guy to play on our third/fourth line. And, because he’s old, Maurice would have played him. |

I agree we definitely need another top 9 forward. Perhaps that is Vesalainen? The kid is 21 years old now and how much longer would he realistically need to develop? He looked pretty good in the games he played last year. |

I am also going on record and am going to make a bold prediction!
The Jets will win the Central Division next year!
This because it appears that all our divisional rivals have become weaker and I am expecting a MONSTER year from PLD. Only obstacle in this teams way is Paul Maurice!
Heard from The Ultimate Jet first!!! |

Jets aren't paying Stastny 3.75 million to be a 3rd line grinder with Copp and Lowry. Top 6 is done.
Ritchie would be nice on the 3rd line. Though it's pretty weird that Boston didn't qualify him and go to arbitration, and instead signed Haula and Foligno.

You said they were going to win the North division last year and they still have the same obstacle to overcome.

Jets are probably only looking for a PK guy. I'll stick with Sheahan he's still available, though they might sign Zajac. Dark horse would be Wallmark who was pretty good with Carolina a couple years ago though he is only 25. |

I love the way that Vessy played last year, he just didn't get the scoring chances, but he was a 100% player.
They keep talking about his shot - must have one. Believe he was drafted as a scorer - hopefully he can play top-6, top-9 for sure!
I think he's going to be a player. Needs to pot a couple - confidence!

Reeves and Tinordi to NYR’s….
They should make first game against Washington a pay-per-view 🤣
Jets hopefully poking tires on Tatar because there isn’t much out there for a potential top 6 winger.
I can’t see a trade but you never know, Chevy’s phone obviously fully charged |

Leafs now have Nic Ritchie, Wayne Simmonds and Kurtis Gabriel.
They are not fooling around wow |

Likely yes but imo the top 6 shouldn't be done, they need another winger who can put the puck in the net, Stastny won't be grinding on the 3rd line but Dubois might end up doing that.
Would've been far better to use some cap space for a top 6 forward then using almost $10M on two dmen when one would've been enough, maybe there's some more moves coming but I don't see why they slid Heinola's ELC if they were just going to block him from making the team when he's clearly ready.
Maybe Boston knew Krejci wasn't coming back so they prioritized signing some guys who can play center, heard Toronto is looking at signing Ritchie. |

Was thinking the Leafs might sign Tatar but they're pretty thin for cap space now, guess they could move someone out but that seems unlikely, bet Tatar ends up in Colorado or NJ.
Nice signings by Toronto, not big names but guys that should help them. |

If the Jets sign Tatar, he’s immediately the 3rd best forward on the roster behind Ehlers and Scheifele. I wouldn’t mind it at all. He puts up points, he defends well, and he drives play.
Actually, yeah, do it. Do it now. He fixes a lot of Scheifele and Dubois related issues |

Just give Gustafsson a chance. He averaged almost a point a game between the Moose and Europe. We are supposedly a draft and develop team after all.
