If the Jets sign Tatar, he’s immediately the 3rd best forward on the roster behind Ehlers and Scheifele. I wouldn’t mind it at all. He puts up points, he defends well, and he drives play.
Actually, yeah, do it. Do it now. He fixes a lot of Scheifele and Dubois related issues - Rexypoo
He's also been healthy scratched twice by teams in the playoffs.
There's no denying he's a good player but there's something going on that teams don't like about him.

He played badly on a stacked Vegas team he hadn’t been with for long (fair criticism), and Montreal was really stupid with their forwards in the playoffs (not fair criticism) |

Agreed. A regular scratch through most of the playoffs by both teams. Not a guy we want or need.

No if it shows on paper or stats it’s a fact.
Tatar has been misused like a certain Austrian player
Tatar is signed by the Jets is in the 6 roll and PP, I think he’d be a good addition but superlatives about his greatness are silly.
Not there when game counts isn’t a great trend though |

Nash is a smart pickup. Real smart. An actually useful and capable player |

Agree Nash very serviceable player.
Do need some depth.
Chevy doing well |
|
|
|
Riley Nash Age 32 + Position C = Goodbye David Gustafsson from the starting lineup
Now Chevy needs 1 more player to take Vesalainen out as well.

Plays the PK and does it very very well. That's mostly what matters here. Nothing earth-shattering here but just some solid 4th line dependable depth. Tatar is far from dependable and useless on the PK. So glad he is out of the picture ! |

You can’t enter the season without a Nash-like forward. What if Vess, Gust or Harkins don’t do the job? but also you can’t expect no injuries
Could still see another forward added |
|
|
|
So Riley Nash is good but a Tatar signing would be bad!! Too funny, only Winnipeg Jets fans would think this way!.. Lol 😂😂 |

Exactly, what a (frank)ing joke, the draft, develop, sign a veteran plug to block drafted and developed prospect from making the team plan is working as intended. |

You don't know if they can't do the job, when they never get a chance. Which anyone watching the Jets under Maurice knows by now happens when he is given the Nash's of the NHL.

Any forward could kill penalties for the Jets, if they can stand on their skates and not be aggressive they can kill penalties for the Jets..Lol.. Seriously one of if not the worst penalty killing strategy is utilized by the Jets.
Zero doubt in my mind Gustafsson and Harkins could kill penalties for the Jets, Vesalainen should 1000% be seeing powerplay time this season, he should've last season too. |

Count the number of forwards under contract for next year before you riled up about Nash signing.
Including Nash, Copp (not signed) , Ves, Gus and Harkins we have 12
How many forwards do you think you should have? |

You forgot Toninato. Who is 100% getting a starting job for Maurice. |

If he’s our 13th forward that’s not depth. did not forget him bye the way.
Nobody wants the 3 young guys to play more than me but you need depth.
They’ll sign one more |

He's not 13th forward he's starting lineup.
Agree they will sign 1 more probably to a PTO like Lewis last year who also got into the starting lineup.
I'm not dismissing depth, to be depth, it just doesn't happen with Maurice.
So expect a 4th line of Toninato-Nash-PTO guy to start the season with Ves and Gus healthy scratches in the press box |

I'm with you Jjonah. Jets badly needed a guy like Riley Nash. Ves has a starting position pretty much locked. Harkins has been a bubble guy for years. Gus is on his way but we need more proof He will likely be rotated in this year much more than previously but Nash will play most every game as he is an in-your-face pain-in the -ass type player which opponents hate.
Chevy actually needed to trade a Dman though.
Positions might change but the lineup looks like this
Connor- S- -Wheeler
Statsny - PLD- Ehlers
Ves - Lowry - Copp
Gus- Toninato - Nash
Harkins
Morrissey - Schmidt
Dillon - Pionk
Stanley/Heinola - Demelo
Beaulieu
Samberg
Niku
Chevy could trade a D at some point from now till the trade deadline...and we need one more depth forward before the season. At the deadline we need to pick up a better backup goalie just in case Helle got injured.
BTW...I calculate the Jets will have about $10.2 MM remaining to sign Pionk, Copp, and Stanley. Should be just enough. |

Such a quality individual. Gambling, lavish partying, domestic problems, and now betting against his own team. Couldn't get rid of him fast enough. Thank you Buff !!!
Lucky for San Jose , suspensions from off-ice issues don't count against the cap. |

Don't be ridiculous. I'd bet he doesn't play more than a game or two max for the Jets.
