Jack Eichel is 25. That never happens.

He's a superstar centre.

Fedorov was 13 years into his career when he got traded.

Consider the source. He’s an ultra right wing moron.

Ah. Changing the parameters of your claim after you made it.

Sundin was 23. Other than Federov, the others were in their 20's or early 30's.

Eichel is an excellent player. By today's standards, he probably will achieve super star status. But until he's HoF, he's not in the conversation with those guys I mentioned. Not at all.

Eichel is a cry-baby and hands down the worst Captain in the modern NHL. I'd trade him for Brandon Sutter and a years worth of Arby's.

Prior to last year, did Eichel have that reputation? I have no memory one way or the other.

You didn’t hear any of the bs for the past 5 years about his attitude and all the GM Joke Eichel stuff going around?

demanded they fire disco sucks dan or he would not sign an extension

pouted like a cry baby and asked to be traded 3 or 4 times before only to take it back the next day

I mean what captain says jack needs to look out for jack?

he played really well in 19-20 though, the one season you could tell he was working on his two way game

I may have. But its all been drowned out by the last 6+months of back and forth stuff. I do remember his female doging about music in the locker room.

He's also a ginger, so you gotta give the guy some leeway.

I put on here yesterday that my prediction was tuch, Brisson, Korczak and a 1st plus maybe more picks so it appears I wasn’t too far off. At first glance this looks like a bad deal for Buffalo but after letting it settle it appears to be fair for both sides, at least when you consider star players almost never get traded for what they’re worth.

There is question as to how good will eichel be once he returns and knowing you’re not getting him for 4 months really weaken Buffalo’s leverage in the situation.

So in comparison to my proposal you have Krebs > Brisson and Korczak = 2nd rounder so I would say while there are more what if’s for Buffalo I think they got as close to a fair deal *as they were going to get*

Pat Lafontaine is the last I can remember in or near prime- But a younger Pierre Turgeon went back

Forsberg involved Lindros
Sundin involved Leaf Legend Wendel Clark

Oates older
Nieuwendyk was older and not Eichel level

Basically a proven commodity was involved in previous blockbusters
Sabres got NOTHING until Krebs proves it otherwise
9/10 players drafted after pick 5 are overrated until year 4 where they are either not in the league or revamping game for the 3rd line
Prospects in the NHL don't pan out like say the NFL.

Surprised Shea Theodore was not involved

Glad for Jack... Now he can get the better surgery. Can always get a fusion later if needed but once get the fusion you are fuqked. (i know alot about fusions and disc replacements)

Congrats to Vegas getting their first true superstar!
Will be fun watching him play on a REAL team.
One of the best skaters, underrated one timer and will make the powerplay 10x better the first day back

Picking up Vegas as my Western Conference team. Kind of liked them anyways. The stadium is rocking!

Sabres are pathetic and need a new more up to date medical staff(maybe team up with Cleveland Clinic)...ya said that---> leaving that fragment or protrusion obviously on that nerve for this long! The Kid is 24

Eichel is fine
The Sabres organization is a mess

Lehner has been successgul since he left
I think Riley won a cup and the Conn Smythe
Reinhart has yet to lose a game
Risto probably be an all star

Sabres have a pathetic history esp w their stars see Lafontaine, Hasek, Peca, Briere, Drury, that's just top of head... even Gilbert they should have traded him to the Oilers to play with Gretzky

Sabres are the problem. Eichel is fine and will thrive in the West

Does anyone here truly believe this just happened? Jack Eichel is the best centre to be traded since Gretzky. Bill Foley paid Kevyn Adams to make this deal happen. I'm sure of it. These two are scum and should immediately be terminated by the league.

You can't put forsberg in that list. He was traded as a prospect in the crazy Lindros deal, and then was never traded again until that end of career Nashville trade. No one ever traded him during his real career.
Listen, as a flyers fan, I'm just an outsider to this group, even though I lived in Vegas for years and used to catch games at The Orleans, but I think y'all are nuts if you're not outside celebrating this trade. Yeah you're taking a chance on Eichels health, but otherwise you just landed one of the top center talents in the game for the last 10 years, likely in his prime, and all the more important in a cap era when you need your top center to be better than everybody else's and you don't have any money left to make up for it if he's not. You remind me of sharks fans complaining when Thornton was traded to them that young first pairing defensemen with mobility and toughness like Brad Stuart just didn't grow on trees and they gave up too much.
You just won that trade.

Yeah, not a Vegas fan. Kings fan. I despise the Knights, but love the town and the people. I'm interested in the team because it is a divisional foe and the club is fascinating in how its run. I was responding to a ridiculous claim that Eichel was the best center traded since Gretzky. That was the contention. I think my list disputes that.

As for the trade, I'm in the "both sides appear to be winners" side of things. Vegas gets a guy that, if he hits, will perform. He will be embraced in Vegas. Buffalo moves on from this situation of its own making, get Tuch (who will wear a letter and be a leader for them), Krebs (who knows?), and a few picks. It was a salvage job and gets them out of this situation. They weren't doing any better, CGY rumors notwithstanding.

Yup. Patty, too. Turgeon wasn't too shabby, either. That list was off the top of my head. Someone else mentioned Jumbo. No knock on Eichel, of course, but there have been elite centers traded since Gretzky and some were better than Eichel (for now).

I still remember the Jumbo Joe trade; at the time it looked like the Sharks made away like bandits, but it ended up being a reasonable trade. This trade might end up similar to that one, with both teams happy with their end of the bargain.

Lindros himself would be the guy to bring up. He was still young, had incredible numbers, dominated the competition in his youth, fought with the management, reportedly had coaches fired, and had a risky health concern.

Players strived around Lindros, though. His teammates never put up numbers like they did playing with Big E. Recchi would have been a HOFer most likely without him, but even his career years were playing on the Crazy 8s…and I bet that wasn’t thanks to Brent Fedyk. Fedyk is another, though. As is LeClair, Renberg, etc.

Haven’t seen Eichel do that yet, but a change of scenery might fix things. He was miserable in Buffalo. Can’t blame him.

As a sabres fan I will miss his play. On the flip side he hasn't been healthy since his rookie season and wasn't healthy then either. Has two wonky ankles and now a neck issue.

Will he ever play a full season? If he does you got a steal but then again Buffalo did nothing with him in the lineup anyways.

I count this as a win-win for both teams.

Jack Eichel is the best centre to be traded since Gretzky. He was traded for a couple of plugs and a conditional pick. It's a horrendous deal that should have been nixed by the league.
- CGYFlames13

Can't tell if this is a serious take or not?
