Hughes would be great on our shinny team. But in actual hockey, he cannot play without the puck. So often caught looking side to side or behind his back while his guy is scoring or glorious chance.

Without a Tanev (and there is only one) covering all his defensive deficiencies, he's like a lost puppy out there playing NHL hockey.

I like demko. I feel bad for him. I like Petey too, but he's one of the few we could get something for at this point .. plus he'll want to go.

Any one of these individual players would look good on a good team. The problem is the collection.

For example, Pettersson in place of Pasternak would likely be as productive being insulated by a great team and structure, while Pasternak on the Canucks would probably suck balls.

Hughes on the Tampa Bay Lightning roster being surrounded by Hedman and Cernak et al and forwards committed to defense would be dynamic.

At this point I’d just blow it all up starting with the most valuable trade chips and start over. Sure you may “lose” some trades but there’s something wrong both on and off the ice with this team.

Probably but I don’t know what the fix is to this mess. Burn it down is what people say tired of the losing.

So sell away. By the time Canucks draft a new core it will be another decade. So why keep anyone just to sell tickets. Forget the team exists just play draft Lotto.
