I guess we can't do that anyway. The challenge I am see with the whole narrative though is that we say we can't give Horvat $8m or so, but we can give Kuz $6-7m. Surely anything of value coming back is going to be worth 3-5m. So you add that to $6-7 for Kuz and you have spent more than on Horvat.
Frankly I would prefer Horvat and a 2-4m winger than a $2-4m center and Kuz at 6-7m

None of this makes any sense - I think they are all high as F!*k in that box

- TJTD

This management group, if re-signing Kuzmenko at what is expected to be in the 6-7 range, will have spent well over 25 million on 4 wingers.

My guess at dominos…

Bedard
Fantilli
Michkov
Carlsson
Smith
Benson
Yager
Barlow
Dvorsky
Reinbacher

Not guessing team needs in this list.

How many times do you want me to tell you, NO to Will Smith.

Dvorsky isn't really my boy, just the best 2 way centre in that group of players. I take Simashev or Reinbacher at 10 OA. Atm.

Can I put that in the book for you?

I don't think they value Horvat as a 8m Centre. Rutherford said they feel the contract is fair for what he has done up to this season. Which means they don't want to make the same mistake as they did with Miller and pay him off a career year. If they sign Kuzmenko, then need to dump Boeser and maybe Garland for w/e they can get.

Analytics biggest contribution has been not overpaying some guy who shoots 10% over his career avg and aren't paying for the unsustainable.

Reinbacher 10oa 👍

Who at 5 or 6th?

- Nighthawk

I don't really care who the Habs get at 5 and 6. But Canucks at 4th, I still go Dvorsky.

My satisfaction for a Horvat trade is set at:

Matthew Tkachuk was traded to the Florida Panthers by the Calgary Flames for forward Jonathan Huberdeau, defenseman MacKenzie Weegar, forward prospect Cole Schwindt and a conditional first-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. The Panthers also received a conditional fourth-round pick in 2025.

They have to be better than that

- TJTD

you think Horvat is on par with M Tkachuk

If so you are better be ready to be disappointed.

Sandin Pellika, or trade down get another high pick and draft a D. Be interesting to see if we keep sinking with Tocchet

I think $8m is sliding down to 6 over 8 years is fine. The guy at least tries hard and does more than offense - faceoffs, etc. That they paid Miller $8m a year in advance is just mind blowingly stupid. There was zero rush to do it.

Miller with warts has been more productive but can play C if given the right good wingers. Still isn’t great but Bo will get us pieces in a return. Imo it’ll easily be a better bidding war this time around. The PP is better with JTM than without.

I agreed with you on Wood, but definitely not with Pellika, who should be a 2nd rounder, at best.

ATM Smith projects much better & I’ll stand by that. Dvorsky ceiling is 2C. Smith 1B. I’ll take the silky scorer/playmaker.

Yes, I know what type of players you like, the ones that always end up being on shItty teams, because they can't elevate their game.

My biggest interest is teams that want to go all in. Like the Canes or Rags or even the Capitals. So wonder how that will affect the arms race for the cup. All are looking up at the Bruins & maybe what it’ll take.

So you wanna pay the 8 million dollars to Horvat for the same product? That's not how you build a winning team. Major changes are badly needed. Not only does the team need a culture shift, it needs to get away from the same core product that continually loses year after year after year. Is that the fault of one player, no, but you've gotta start disassembling somewhere.

He’s just a shiny toy that tops out as 2nd pairing imo. As for trade down that is iffy & how far down & the sweetener. That said I like a deal in my pocket if trades don’t get more high picks but so dependent on where we end up picking. Top 5 or 6 would take a big offer.

I'm pretty divided on this myself. I've enjoyed watching him play, he plays with passion. Loves to score. I wish he would put that same commitment into defence a bit more often. He's 58th among NHL forwards in scoring.

You don't win without scoring in the NHL. The Canucks have it in abundance on the wings.

Not a problem if you can get rid of someone else and get him on a decent contract that isn't too much because teams shouldn't be paying what they used to for scoring.

I like the comparable someone made about Burakowsky 5x5.5M. Seattle no tax state helps that a lot.

He's good secondary scoring. Which is not 7M plus IMO. Van has tax 5x6.5M
