Why do they need a captain? Who is a decent candidate? Kuzmenko is probably the best choice and that’s pretty (frank)ed
- CanuckDon

Ethan Bear is another fine fucked up selection.

I'm not even upset about this trade

I'm just waiting to judge it until the next big move because so far these guys are making moves that contradict each other and it's pretty confusing. I get that some of you want change just for the sake of it and I get that because I do too, but if there's no clear direction then this will be Benning 2.0 and you guys celebrating right now will be the ones upset that team still sucks.

This trade on it's own is pretty irrelevant without a well executed plan. If the plan is the shuffle the deck chairs around and go in hard for the playoffs again next year then good luck

- Nucker101

I think they are rebuilding. They realized they were wrong about this core and have adjusted. They have no untouchables! For the first time in 12 years we might have a direction. And if we still don’t? (frank) it who cares. At least some of the p$ssies will be shown the door

I'm not arguing the need for a capatain. I am sure that Tocchet and management will name one though.

You are so easily confused these days. You are burning out so fast it's concerning. Slow it down Don... slow it down. I've seen too many flames flicker out over the years.

They don’t need one, they need to keep throwing the deck chairs overboard and changing out the players. Once that’s done make a decision on a captain. It’s one trade, hopefully of many, people are getting way too far out in front of themselves.

Still feels that way to me. This was a baby step, there's a long way to go to prove they actually want substantial change. My money is on running it back with a new leadership group and a healthy Demko next year and seeing what happens.
- NorthNuck

It feels that way because that is what Rutherford said it was going to be, major surgery re-tool. He's looking for reclamation projects, u26 NHL bodies and ready prospects.

It's a re-tool.

So you are basing wins in trades on what previous regimes have done.... you know, where the bar is set. You lost your poop over and over back when I was bringing up what past regimes have done when Benning was making half assed moves. It's incredible how you can't stay on track with your very own positions.

Over and over you argued that past mistakes by former GM's have nothing to do with whether this and that is a good move with new management. Make your mind up dumb ass.

- boonerbuck

I’m basing current trades on what I see in front of me. I know you like to get stuck in the past, but things change, now isn’t back then. The team currently needs to build depth with trades and with drafting. It’s a good start. We’ll see where it goes. It’s not 2014 anymore, it’s 2023 and there’s a new set of dynamics the team needs to address.

Nothing screams we are rebuilding like signing a vet to 7 years at $8m who will be 30 in year 1 of his new contract.

They are nowhere near rebuilding yet. They just added a 25 y/o and a AHL player who has fallen short of expectations from an Islander's prospective. They flat out said those were the moves they prefer over draft picks which screams age gap strat again. This draft pick they acquired is not even guaranteed a high pick. Islanders could make the playoffs this season and it's a later pick or it's protected and then they make the play offs next season.... later pick. There is no real clear plan yet, just a lot of gambling which is probably giving Tocchet wood right now.

Bingo…I think they know they need to rebuild despite what old man Rutherford has said. They’re clearly a worse team without Horvat’s production and they’re sending Rah-too (Raty) to Abbotsford so the tank is on.

Crazy Miller is the best option. Giraffe would be a good option too.

Just had a look at the Islanders remaining games, they have 10 games against bottom feeders and another 10 games against teams in the bubble category, like, Buffalo, Detroit, Florida, Washington and Pittsburgh.
They just had Adam Pelech return 3 or 4 games ago, after missing 21 games.
That 1st could easily turn into a pick in the 20-25 range.

- Reubenkincade

They really missed all his scoring making NYI 23rd in gpg & 31st on the PP.

I'd love to see it on Miller next season. He would be pushing his trade list so fkn fast.

I don’t even know what that means, but you keep trolling the place with your constant arguments, you’re, in part, why Carol couldn’t stand this place any longer.

I think the management group changed their position, they just made a nice trade, you should be happy….change is coming.

What Don is saying is pretty clear, since they signed Miller in the summer they’ve seen that they need to go in a different direction, at least that’s how I feel, that they feel. You know, things change, have to adjust. Hopefully more trades and purging coming.

I don’t think they see him as an option, he’s apparently hated within the room. You don’t make a guy like that captain.
