So if he quits.... do you bring in another President? One that's basically OK coming in without hiring the GM/coach and overall philosophy, and probably won't be able to work around that for a few years? - NewYorkNuck
If JR quits, then I think you have to let PA go and hire back Trevor Linden and elevate Stan Smyl as GM with the Sedins being his AGMs and let them try to fix the mess. |

Not at all, JR just needs to stfu. Finish off the season and hopefully figure things out. If JR quits big deal. - VanHockeyGuy
American team you can say something and 99% forget who you are before the next time you get up to the podium.. Canadian team and BC where you will be scrutinized for doing something good.
Pitt is a good hockey market but next door Philly is a freak out zone. Carolina nobodies knew they even had a hockey team.

I was checking out Hockey forums and hockey boards? and you get like 2 comments per view in your screen and it felt as if there was a lot of distraction away from the hockey talk. It wasn't a chat but one guy who posses a question then 20 other people give their take without responding to each other. |

I've seen many views lately that have been saying it's time for Yzerman to do something. Make a trade, use some of those maybes for good NHL talent. Team has been out of the playoffs for 6 years and Yzerman at the helm for 4. Larkin could be leaving, Bertuzzi could be gone.
Look at Buffalo, they get some good players but are always trading away NHL talent and it takes years to develop NHL players. Then good players get to UFA or too old and time to sell again. 11 years no playoffs for them and counting.
Oilers went with scorched earth rebuild as well and missed playoffs 12 out of 13 years.
Benning did (frank) poop up. No doubt but can't really say that Linden's plan would have this team in a position they aren't right now. |

Linden did nothing. I don't know why Francesco just doesn't name himself as President and GM. It is not like it is a secret anymore. |

Well we know Linden did nothing because he wanted to slow play the rebuild from rumours.

Then he should be ecstatic. How much slower can you be that how long it is taking the Canucks to rebuild.

They need to fix the D somehow, hopefully not in free agency. With any luck they draft one or 2 good ones or manage to pull off some good trades.
All tall orders. |

Linden had the right idea but was hamstrung by Benning and Aquaman. We would be in a better spot of we'd kept him.
I remember fighting Benning bros over this. |

All part of the plan to trade him back to us for Elias Pettersson and name him captain.
Wonder if Lou is senile enough to take the defenceman EP instead of EP40 and retain 1.5 million... |

Yes, worst then the Gillis groupies.
I also thing Gillis was right... he should have been allowed to rebuild in 2011.

I mean.... it wouldn't be hard to be in a better spot then we are now.... or to have had more success then we've had since they let him go.
It's been a fast drop to the bottom since he left, not a stretch to say he'd have done better by embracing the rebuild years ago instead of having additional years of failure.
OEL wouldn't be a Canuck for 1. |
