Calgary were the better team and would have deserved the win but you've got to love the ending. If DeBrincat could make that shot more than once every 1500 years I could see giving him a contract but it is great when it happens.

Sogard looked solid and I can't fault him on any of the goals. He stopped the ones he was supposed to stop.

I was hopping to see more defensive awareness with Sogard in net but they're still doing the stretch pass as a way of breaking out of their zone. Smith hasn't a clue.

This team is going to get a lot better. Everybody just needs to cool down on the idea that making the playoffs is the gold standard for progress. We need to see solid improvement in their 5 on 5 numbers and specifically you want the +/- improving for all your top players. Last night Timmy was +4, Brady +2 and Chabot +2.

Three strong impressions from last night: Timmy is very good. Brady is their leader. Sanderson is a very special player (his absence was noticed through the entire game).
