I believe they kept the option open to give the pick to the Canucks even if it is top 12. Either way, the Canucks are getting a good pick from them this year or next. - LeftCoaster
They do but can’t see the islanders giving up a top 10 in this draft. Regardless, I jus t hope we get this years pick wherever it ends up |

That wasn’t a the brightest idea on their part. - LeftCoaster
They needed the cash to resign Kaprisov last year and Boldy this year. While it hurts them, GM Guerin didn't have a choice. Like the Canucks poopshow, he was dealt overpayed, past prime veterans when he was hired. Unlike the Canuck Beta management, he didn't double down on them and add OEL type players. He ballsed up and took the pain and bought them out. Power move... |

No way they give up top 10 this year, they might give up an 11 or 12. Anything lower and Lou will roll the dice on a better year next season. |

👍🏻 that is the most logical scenario. Although Lou is old as (frank) so who knows |

Him and Jurmo were friends back in Finland.
Raty no shots, no points tonight minus 2. |

I just mixed up names is all.
I heard it in the interview on the Abby youtube channel. Raty speaks excellent English, sounds smart... gives a better interview than most pros and has a good sense of humor.

OEL has got to be bought out this summer one would think. |

Barely cap implications next year, 24/25 its 2.3, 25/26 and 26/27 it's 4.7, then 4 more years of 2.1 after that. Those 2 years of 4.7 are pretty tough to swallow, especially since (if they are trying to turn things around in 3 years like they said) that will be their opening. Wonder how much the cap will go up by then?
Also, what a great trade by Benning
I don't think they'd buy OEL out this summer, as there isn't a huge need for the cap space, and maybe they think he can get back to being decent with better Tocchet structure. Maybe next summer when they assess better? |

A few of you were talking the other day about the closest galaxy being 244 trillion Kms away.
Have you really forgotten about this little piece of work terrorizing the galaxy since the early sixties?

2.9M with 6 players to be signed. Even putting 2.5M of Poolman on LTIR. 5.4M to sign 7 players is basically league Min for everyone.
Can't forget Kuzmenko bonus is most likely looking like it will be paid next season. |

If the Canucks could now somehow get more unprotected 1st round picks from some of the teams trying to make the playoffs in the East.

Not quite sure where you're getting that from? Using Capfriendlys AGM it seems like there's reasonable enough space to fit everyone that's currently on the team. There aren't many big names to resign, Schenn and Bear being the only two really worth it, and maybe Dermott if you want depth.
We can also comfortably assume one of Boeser or Garland will be moved. |

But Dumba just replaces Boeser so it's almost a wash |

Yes but then by bringing in Dumba you're moving out Myers (post bonus money) to Arizona for a 3rd, so you're back to savings! |

Why not just keep him. It's not like the Canucks are going to be good next season. |

Rookie move by me. The contracts of Mikky, Pearson, Demko are on IR/LTIR for this season somehow don't count as contracts next season.
Sign Bear 2M and everyone healthy. Schenn 1M, Poolman healthy
23 man roster @ 83.5M $18,750 in cap space.
Almost another perfect cap with the exact same poopty team.

Pretty much
Not expecting that much of a change for next season. Hopefully a couple costly players get moved, they draft well, and flip some players at the next TDL. |

Someone is going to have to be moved. Honestly, Kuzmenko probably has more value now then when he did before because he is signed for 2 more years. NJ is looking for a top 6 winger who is signed to term. Maybe NJ has gone from Boeser to Kuzmenko for them.
Boeser is playing better under Tocchet then Kuzmenko who managed to make it into the dog house (has anyone mentioned dog house since Green left) in 3 games?
Sorry I edited this in after you replied.
I would like cap space because I wouldn't mind if Severson came in as a free agent on a good deal in the summer time. |

Lou probably won't be around to see any picks become NHL regulars, he wants to win now.
