Silovs has 2 years of AHL experience (on top of the Latvia mens league).. I think he's better prepared than MikeyD was coming straight from the OHL

it’s a little odd that Podz, Hoglander & Aman were sent to Abby to get away from NHL tire fire, yet Silovs is being thrown into that same fire and being asked to be a fireman 👨‍🚒

Your original point was that playing his was going to derail his career.... not sure how it's going to? Unless you're saying they're both just bad goalies.

The point is probably to see how Silovs looks, and the fact that their other goalies blow chunks.

based on today’s #NHL standings, #Canucks remaining games:
vs Top 10 teams: 10
vs Mid 12 teams: 6
vs Bottom 10 teams: 12
so a dozen games remain against other bottom feeders

Hopefully in the next two weeks, Canucks do a lot of showcasing of depth players to other teams and get some returns.

Might have to retain a bit, which is fine with me... maybe that could push it up to Drury area? Retain 1.25 or something

Don't buy that. They got sent down to work on their game and get their confidence up. Both Pod and Aman are back in the lineup, so that theory is sort of shot

I was being a bit sarcastic in the first place but what is the actual point of him playing tonight? To see how he looks? Drive an hour down the road. Tire fire of a defence and team in Vancouver. What good is it to subject a 21 year old goalie to that?

One start isn't gonna hurt the kid either way. This seems like the perfect time to evaluate him at the NHL level. No pressure, the team sucks and the games are pretty meaningless.

Mikey got seriously derailed by the Covid seasons and taxi squad. He had to basically sit a season just as he was taking the next step.

His 1st and 2nd career NHL games were pre covid games.

My friend who was a trainer for TCU football this past season has been getting into the psychology over the past couple years and he has mentioned before how surprisingly down a person can get after a bad performance when the stakes are high. (for themselves not the team)

Sophmore slump has been real for him. I still got faith that he hasn't hit his potential yet, eternal optimist maybe.
