Coaching in the NHL, while you're here spending your free time posting anonymously on some hockey board?

Merzlikins - Clark doesn't coach him anymore (for years), not applicable
Martin - AHL goalie
Delia - AHL goalie
Demko - 100 games previous years > 15 games this year in front of a terrible team

I'd say the goalies have performed as well as the team, case in point:

You should have thought about this when you were female doging about Canucks not trading Miller for the past year then.

I'm just wondering which Van media you are quoting, the one that said Benning was a drafting guru? the one who thought Green should be extended? Maybe the guy that thinks all goalies perform relative to their teams performance?

Goals saved above expected, it's a stat for goalies.

Currently 2nd last in the league Spencer Martin. Elvis Merzlikins is last (former Clark student). Demko 6th worst, Delia 14th worst. Silovs is 20th worst that's out of 91.

Last season Demko was making saves and was top 10. He was playing well, team was not. This year the goalies have under performed the team. Where is Clark and his expertise this season?

Benning was a drafting guru. Was he actually?

6 out of 7 D available in the first Van could use.

10 out of 11 centers available Van could use also.

I wouldn't mind if they pick a winger in the 2nd round if they pick a D and C in the first.

I'd say players are sorting themselves out better as the year is going on.

Sam doesn't throw multiple players 40-50 spots higher than a lot of public ones.

I watched a 30 minutes video of clips last night from some David St. Louis kid who writes for EP. Was the USDP vs Chicago steel so highlighted the big 4 Smith, Perreault, Leonard, Moore and Perron from Chicago.

The fact that EP thinks Moore is better than Smith and Perron is worthy of a top 10 selection just shows the extreme bias of speed and skill over everything else. That's what makes most of the rankings look so dumb. Cam Robinson and 70% of his top 100 every year 5'10" and under.

Funny enough the guy I was bitching about, just like me, doesn't have a job in the NHL

Is the quote wrong just because they have thoughts outside of the evidence that's being laid down?

Do you have a link to this?
I have stated before, I think Smith is being driven by his linemates, as he appears to be overrated, anytime I have seen him.
More like a 3LC in the future

It's pretty hard to be propped up by teammates when you are the highest scoring player on the team.

In terms of "play driver" he's not the guy that makes his teammates better. The line compliments each other really well. He isn't Jack Hughes or Connor McDavid that 90% of line mates are going to improve playing with them over others.

You probably get 4 of those "play driver" types in Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Michkov.

There are a lot of bottom tier top line projected players in this draft though. Brayden Point, Matt Barzal, Necas, Duchene, Scheiefele, Guentzal, Zuccarrelo, Bratt types.

Quote is a bit misleading. Halak has more wins because the team in front of him is better.

Last season Canucks goaltending stole the show. Halak was not all that bad. He is better individually though this season than he was last year.

This season Canucks goaltending has been absolute dog poop.

A stat guy on instagram said if Canucks goaltending played equal to the opposition this year, Canucks could have 8-10 more wins. That was a few weeks ago I saw that.

10th in GF. 11th in PP.

Martin -23.5
Demko -11.1
Delia -4.9
Silovs -2.9 from last night alone.

So they all average out to 0. That's around 40 goals saved just to be average. Demko last season was +10.5 Martin +9

40 saved goals puts them mid table in the league.

PK is terrible, best Pker is supposed to be the goalie.

Dvorsky

Yes, the Canucks goalies haven't been great this year (especially compared to last year) but a HUGE part of that is the team in front of them sucks balls. Even just watching highlights you see how terrible the team is, how many insane chances they give up.

You're making my point on Halak. He's better this year because the TEAM in front of him is better. Put him on a poopty team (like the Canucks) and he'd be worse (like he was last year). The same with Martin and Demko and Delia. Take them from this bad team, put them on the Rangers, and they'd look much much better.

If the Canucks played anything close to sound D I'm sure they'd have 15 more wins

Maybe, I personally think Michkov will be better. Carlson seems very solid. I’d be pretty happy with either.

I'd take Carlson over Michkov. Although Michkov will likely out produce Carlsson, I've read Carlsson has the much stronger 2 way game, is a center and will be available in less than 4 years(Michkov's KHL contract)

I would take Benson over Michkov, but I haven't been able to see much of Michkov the past year or so, and have only done some checking in on Benson recently. Both of them are top 10, but not top5 guys, imo.

I don't see Simashev on that list.
I'm sick of not having organizational depth at D on this squad. They normally take the longest to develop and it is the hardest position to learn (outside of G). So draft them now, then add the centers and leave the wingers off the board, (Unless it is a generational Ovi type)
So going full RosterHawk trade down scenario. Unless we are top 3 and can get Bedard, Fantilli or Carlsson, trade down and acquire additional picks.
Draft Reinbacher, Simashev, and if you get a later 1st for the trade downs or by trading away roster players, grab Dragicevic.
Would this not be considered a huge draft day win if they did this?
If you can do this all in one draft year, you have begun to solve the perpetual weakness of this team since 1970. Now is the time to build that base to have depth at the most important position.
(frank) BPA 5'10" wingers in the 1st round.
