I'd take Carlson over Michkov. Although Michkov will likely out produce Carlsson, I've read Carlsson has the much stronger 2 way game, is a center and will be available in less than 4 years(Michkov's KHL contract) - Retinalz
Agreed.
If they want another small winger, to join the group, they should consider dropping down a bit and gathering another pick.
I take Carlsson at 3, all day, everyday, unless of course, Fantilli drops to 3 for some reason. |

Michkov is outpacing Ovechkin, Tarasenko, Panarin at the same age - NorthNuck
And Carlsson's adjusted numbers are comparable to Elias Petterssons. |

I just think he's being underrated because of the Russian factor, Carlsson could definitely be the better player |

Although let's be honest. When the dust settles we either draft 1-2 or 5-7. We don't finish low enough to be 3rd or 4th seed heading into the lottery. |

I don't underrate him due to the Russian factor, and if he is there at 5 we take him. I'm just thinking a 6'2" Centre whose potential is 70-80 pts and defensively responsible is a better pick that a 5'10" 90-100 Winger who doesn't play defense. Anywhere from 4-7 Michkov is the obvious choice. And rumor is Canes offered 1m for Spartak to terminate their contract with Nikishin. If the NHL was ok with this, maybe we do the same when the time comes. |

That and he is an undersized winger. His stats may compare to Ovi, and Tarasenko, but both of them are 6'2ish and 230#ish.

Patrick Kane is 5'10" and he has 3 cups. If Michkov drops to us, we need to draft his pure skill. But I think the top 4 goes Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Michkov. |

And look at how the rest of Chi was built to permit Kane to become Kane.
STOP DRAFTING MORE UNDERSIZED WINGERS!
Our defense is in shambles and that is giving it credit. The prospect pool for D is less than zero. We don't need any more small wingers in the system, period! |

Yes, the Canucks goalies haven't been great this year (especially compared to last year) but a HUGE part of that is the team in front of them sucks balls. Even just watching highlights you see how terrible the team is, how many insane chances they give up.
You're making my point on Halak. He's better this year because the TEAM in front of him is better. Put him on a poopty team (like the Canucks) and he'd be worse (like he was last year). The same with Martin and Demko and Delia. Take them from this bad team, put them on the Rangers, and they'd look much much better.
If the Canucks played anything close to sound D I'm sure they'd have 15 more wins - NewYorkNuck
Last night.
Silovs 5 GA 2.30 exGA
Shesterkin 4 GA 2.42 exGA
The Canucks were the more sound defensive team last night.
The Canucks have been poor defensively, what the team does on the other end of the ice though makes the other team look just as poor defensively most nights.

Could very well happen, the Canucks don't value size and/or grit. Hopefully that changes with Tochett in the fold.

I’m not convinced that Carlsson has that elite skill level I want in a top 5 pick, good bet he’s a very solid two way center though. Need another elite skill player imo it’s the hardest thing to get is that top tier skill. |

Like I said, if top 3 of Bedard, Fantilli and Carlsson are gone, draft and start to fix the absolute black hole of D depth in the 1st round. They can add 2 top d prospects and possibly 3 if they can get another late 1st. Add to it in the 2nd and later rounds to begin to build a solid team base to eventually add the high skilled wingers to. |
