Yes of course. Everything is fine in Russia. Hockey is more important than anything. |

Could very well happen, the Canucks don't value size and/or grit. Hopefully that changes with Tochett in the fold. - VanHockeyGuy
Too many teams have been burnt over the years by players like Point, Kaprizov, Debrincat, Arvidsson, Bratt, Kucherov, Gaudreau.
The scouts know there aren't that many undersized players in every draft. You find the elite ones and pass on the rest. League has got better at that. Public draft rankings really haven't, Robinson and Will Scouch might actually be getting worse. |

Or D / C prospects.
Build from the midget wingers inwards because they are BPA. - carsonagenic
Again, hopefully Tochett has some input at the draft table. I'm not sold on VAN's scouting department.

100% its all a love fest when talking hockey and international relations have no barring at all... Russia not allowed to play in tournaments? No big deal, its all good! They will love to continue transfer agreements |

Then get used to another 2-3 years of bottom 6 finishes.

100% agree Mini.
And you add those undersize high end prospects at the proper time in the team development arc. Having a stable of of them when you have nothing else will not build you a contending, or even decent team. Plus, the trade value of undersize wingers, regardless of how good they are, generally is the lowest of all positions. So even the asset value isn't worth it. |

I’m not convinced that Carlsson has that elite skill level I want in a top 5 pick, good bet he’s a very solid two way center though. Need another elite skill player imo it’s the hardest thing to get is that top tier skill. - neem55
Carlsson's SHL comparables are Nicklas Bäckström, Elias Lindholm, Mika Zibinejad, Lias Andersson, Azne Kopitar.

No problem at all with that as long as management is truthful about the actual rebuilding process. Which they are not so... |

We dislike drafting the undersized winger mostly in here but other than Lekkerimaki, Hoglander, Lockwood. Only undersized wingers they have drafted since 2014 in the few first rounds.
They need to draft players that have better overall games instead of just powerplay specialists. |

So honest question, was the Horvat deal just trading off pending FA or is there a message from management that this is a retool or rebuild? |

Seravalli believes Boeser will be traded before the trade deadline.
"I think they're pretty aggressive in their pursuit of trying to move him...They have shown a willingness to retain salary (around 1-1.5 mill)."

I am the draft guy and I go back and look time after time to see how why where they (frank)ed up, could have been better. It's just all so random. I want to say they just need to draft better but it's more like just get luckier.
Take 2017 NHL draft.
1st round Took Petey, that was good. (shut up Ruby )
2nd round took Lind, ok well why not a D team needs D badly. Hague? but wait 5 picks later Robertson. That would have been a slam dunk.
3rd round, well took 2 forwards already, pick a D now. Cale Fluery or Kovacevic best picked in that round. Not very good D though.
4th round. Time for a D. Rathbone, took a D just not the right one, 8 picks later Michael Anderson. They tried. Batherson went later in round 4. Also another good pick but a forward again.
People that think that having an absurd amount of draft picks is going to produce excessively good drafting results and it translate to the NHL team, I just don't think they see the true results that come from the draft. |

They have no coherent message or strategy, other than an owner that wants playoff revenue. Too impatient to build properly and blames the fans for not tolerating a full rebuild when they have never tried it. As far as the actual Horvat deal, IMO, it is a case of blowing their cash wad on items like OEL and Miller and forgetting that other players need new deals as well. |

Goalies are weird.
Fun fact : biggest jerk goalie in '92 Grant Fuhr - WelfareWerewolf
Another fun fact...when my Dad was on the drug section in Central Alberta they had a joint sting operation with the Edmonton Police force. They had Fuhr dead to rights on a drug bust but had to let him go as he had a playoff game that night...

Literally only moments away from the bottom 5 and a 20% shot at Bedard.

I think Tocchet is in on more than we think. Can see a full assessment being done. Pettersson and Hughes possibly Demko untouched. |

Moving Bo was the start of the 'retool' IMO and if Demko goes that should signal the full teardown. |
