Multiple Canucks managements over the years have stated this almost word for word. Most true fans have been pleading for a proper rebuild since 2011 Cup run. Others have been following this team since the 70's (myself included) and just want to see a Cup before we die. I just turned 50, so I should have some time, however, this teams past track record and the current aimlessness of the organization from ownership down leaves a lot to be desired.
Plus, Vantel and Chubbs Destroyer of the West Coaster are getting up there... - carsonagenic
Yeah I understand. I just mean it's weird when I've seen corporations argue with their audience or engage them in a negative manner. It never bodes well.
Team definitely needs to realize there's more money in a winning culture/team. As an example, since the leafs have made the playoffs 6 or 7 years in a row (even with first round losses every time) they sell out all the time during the regular season.

Chicago were the best team back then and have the three cups to prove it. Followed immediately by LA.
Canucks got lucky and I am sticking to that

LOL think back to Lafayette hitting the post in 94. That team was great. and tough.
Canucks weren't 'lucky' in 2011 had all the tools to win and technically Boston shouldn't have been on the same ice surface as that incredible 2011 roster.
But it was what it was. If they would have continued to play tough Hockey vs Boston they probably pull out the Cup. AV being outcoached and relying on the PP killed them. Oh and the Loungo choke. Oh and the Rome hit...

interesting read from #Canucks perspective. No love at all for Quinn Hughes which further fuels the debate/discussion about his place in the game. Having a really good season on a bad team. Clearly overlooked by many around the league. But is he a top 10 d-man? This poll says no

Just read an article on the list of injuries the Canucks had...:
Mikael Samuelsson was lost in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals against the Nashville Predators, after he injured his abductor tendon and sports hernia.
Samuelsson had surgery to correct both injuries on May 19.
Christopher Higgins blocked a shot in the third period of Game 5 against the Predators. He had been playing with a presumably broken foot since.
Christian Ehrhoff was injured in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals against the San Jose Sharks, when he was hit hard into the boards by Jamie McGinn.
In order to play in the Stanley Cup Finals, Ehrhoff had his shoulder shot up with painkillers in every game.
Both Ehrhoff and Higgins will require offseason surgery to correct their ailments.
Ryan Kesler reportedly played with both a groin tear and hip labrum tear, which were suffered late in Game 5 against the Sharks.
Dan Hamhuis was lost in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals, after he tore his groin muscle from throwing a thunderous hip check on Bruins forward Milan Lucic.
Mason Raymond, of course, was lost in Game 6 to a vertebrae compression fracture after he was awkwardly driven into the boards by Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk.
Alex Edler was the other casualty in Game 6, as he broke two fingers in the third period. He played through it in Game 7 and logged 26:20.
Those are the injuries that we know of so far, but based on the words of Canucks forward Jeff Tambellini, there must have been more.
"There were probably shooting six guys up [for Game 7]," he said.
Andrew Alberts was also rumoured to have been injured in Game 6 after leaving the game late in the third period.

Leafs right now remind me a bit of the 2011 Canucks TBH. Never get past Chicago or the first second rounds but I have a feeling TO is gonna slay that dragon this year. |

Didn't they sell out before regardless of results? Part of the reason another team was talked about in the area?

Yep true but I'm sure Boston was pretty banged up at that point too. Bottom line is we had all the tools to get it done and didn't. |

Some would say they were unlucky running into the best team in the NHL back to back in the semis |

Canucks were the second best team during Blackhawks run. They were better built for playoffs than Canucks. Boston manhandled the Canucks and created quite a few injuries like Hamhuis and Raymond. Yes it went seven. I think Rome suspension really hurt them. It took away a lot of the physical game the Canucks played in the first two.

They must have a "Juggle lines" app or something they use. Spits it out before practice and that's what they are going with.
That or Tocchet got Green's old blender with him. |

Or they can be doing the best job in years at securing a high draft pick for 2023.

I think pulling the goalie last night with 3 minutes left was giving NYR plenty of time to find the open net.
Ethan Bear on top D pairing. Stillman in the lineup. I would say they are tanking. |

When they decided to rebuild they didn't. Couldn't give tickets away.

Coaches really don't seem to tank. GM's alter the roasters to counter the coaches efforts to win. Keep in mind that a coaches personal record, future contracts, and desire to win usually trump the GM's desire to tank.

To be fair Bear is the best RHD on the team |
