That’s an extremely unlikely outcome. They are all in next year - CanuckDon
About as likely as it was that the Canucks were going to be good this year. |

What are they gonna trade? We'll have their first and (former) top prospect they have 4 mil in cap space heading into next year - NewYorkNuck
They are going to trade their 2023 1st. Lou is old as (frank) and won’t be keeping it |

Van owns it now.
*Conditions: The pick becomes an unprotected 2024 1st round pick if it is in the top 12.
IF NYI still owned it it would say
**Conditions: The Panthers 1st round pick in 2022 is top 10 protected. In the event that the Panthers retain their 2022 1st round pick, they will no longer own their 2023 1st round pick, and Montreal would instead get their 2024 1st round pick.
I guess Lou could trade his top 12 pick this year and give Van an unprotected. So I guess it is possible. |

I don't know, Lou's contract is in it's last year, no playoffs, no prospects?
Will they give him another deal based on his results to date?

Ya that’s interesting. Maybe the next GM would
Rebuild 🤷♂️ |

Canuck luck says it will be a pick in the 20s. |

Where did it come from in Tampa Bay?
Gourde, the type of winger some Canuck fans love to mock. Free agent.
Coleman, trade 1st round pick.
Sergachev, swapped high 1st round picks
Johnson, another halfling. free agent
Goodrow trade 1st round pick.
Cernak trade.
McDonough trade.
Savard 1st round pick.
The rest drafted and had been the same core for quite a while. Add in some a nice prospect in Point and Cirelli. - manvanfan
Stamkos 1st oa Hedman 2nd is that’s a big help. Vasi cinched it. |

So basically we have gone from getting 'three 1st round picks' according to Allvin for Bo to Beaullivier and Raty and Raty might not see the inside of an NHL dressing room ever.
Perfect. - LordHumungous
To early to judge raty. |

NYI sits 16oa so a good chance we get their 1st. |

It isn't like a 1 in 1 out hockey trade. Cap is fluid. Myers is up the year after. - manvanfan
We'll get more for Myers at the deadline next season then we will now.
That's why I'd wait.
Same with Karlsson, no point going for it next season. Keep the overpaid trash to eat up hard losing minutes and build up our prospect base. |

Plays top pair for his team. Has size. A couple years experience. Is a plus player, so possibly can defend. - manvanfan
Shoots Left but in Russia most are trained to play the opposite side unlike in NA.

What is it about people that think there is only one end or the other end of the spectrum?
There's a real difference between all in and tank. There's lots to do in the middle.
Just like sign free agents, no one is saying sign multiple free agents so you max out every $ of cap space but that's what some think . - manvanfan
This is the part that gets overlooked so often. I see comments about trading Kuz and Beau and wait two years for contracts to expire then buyout OEL.
So in 2 year you buy out OEL and then you need to find decent players like Kuz Mik Garland and then you add on another two years. It never ends.
Fix two of the D this year. You have the perfect time to get rid of two major overpaid players and fill it with two middle type contracts.

Yup they took a big swing with the trade hoping to get a high 2023 1st and missed. I like the idea of the trade and the thought process but another epic Canuck failure lol - CanuckDon
What do you mean high? It's top 12 protected |

13-16 I’m sure was the goal. Even 20th overall is a great asset in this draft. I consider a top 20 pick to be “high.” |

The only reason to buy out OEL this summer is if we needed the cap to go all in. We're not there yet so why carry a cap penalty for 8 years when we can wait a couple and carry a much smaller penalty for a much shorter term. - Pres.cup
Pay off Kuzmenko bonus.

The team is getting older and no cap room. I don't mind that at all. I think it has a better chance to be a top 10 pick.
