According to CF if you wait 2 years to buy him out there is still a 4 mil cap hit regardless.

Read the bolded part at each line to see what Canucks pay as a cap hit each year. They save 7 mil this upcoming year and five the next. If you wait two years to do it you still pay two years of 4 mil then two more of 1.5.
