It was a moreso general statement on sports but sure, you've been patient. Canucks have some good young players (unless I'm mistaken) so it's cleaning up the ends and figuring out the long term plans. It's probably closer than it looks this year.
Petey
Hughes
Demko
Miller
All solid pieces to build around - Aaron_85
Miller is not someone you build around, he's someone that you take on when your team is tight and can ignore any problems he causes in the dressing room, he's not someone you throw into a young team that needs leadership. Hughes is a much better version of Tyson Barrie, someone you put on the point of the PP but otherwise try to shelter as much as possible, not the guy you throw out there 20+ minutes a night. Petey you can make a case for because he gets better every year (although by the time the team is ready to compete for Cup he'll be near the end of his prime years). Demko might have already peaked and thanks to injuries, may never get back to the level he was before so it might be best to move on and cultivate a new goalie that can carry the load going forwards like Silvos or Delia (if you think he can be salvaged after this). |

You run with him all season and how do you justify trading him at TDL when you are in a playoff picture? You can't lose him for nothing. - Retinalz
Yes yes you can. A potential cup is worth more than whatever Matthews could get. Leafs would never win that trade.

I consider you a friend, but boy to I ever disagree with your take on players these days. Except Miller.
Hughes is a legit 20+ minute dman, he has proven that this year and last. His weakness is when they get hemmed in, but he defends the rush very well, does a good job at preventing teams from starting a cycle, and controls play as good as the best defensement in the league.
Pettersson is currently one of the top 15 centres in the league, if you can't build around him, very few players will ever be good enough to build around.
Demkos peak is a top 5 goalie, hopefully injuries don't force him to go the way of Schneider.
Silovs has potential, but Delia is only good for tanking. |

Do you run that risk if you fail to get out of the 1st round this year? |

Yep, at least this new group now knows they suck and need big changes. The dissolution is over.
Unless we trade islanders 1st for D help lol - canucksfan1944
Perhaps there's a former top 5 draft pick, large tough RHD with leadership qualities that we can trade for and sign to a long term over priced contract with a NMC? |

Patience? As Canuck fans that’s all we’ve been. Patience is easy when you can see a discernible plan to achieve success. When you witness constant ineptitude, patience is in short order. - bloatedmosquito
I was patient for decades but because of this organizations ineptitude I'm now apathetic, I haven't watched a game in 5-6 weeks, I don't care if they win or lose because I don't think ownership cares if they win or lose. |

I'm apathetic as well, however I will watch some of the games.
The outcome to me doesn't matter. It did at one point. |

Disagree with your evaluations of players. They have shown better than what you say.
After the moves are done, Petey will get this team into contention. A good sign is how he makes his line-mates look so good.
JTM, well he can be controversial with his emotions. But how do you know he’s a problem in the room? |

That sucks. Was hoping the would sign him. I’d trade Quinn before Schenn. Dude should be interim captain |

Do you trust this management group to make this trade? do you trust this group to make the draft pick they might get from this trade? I certainly don't. |

If the best you get offered for Schenn is a mid round pick, re-sign him to a team friendly deal.

I’m not saying he is a better player just saying I’d rather have him on my team and in my Locke room. Also I think they need to rebuild and Hughes would be a good second step. Bo was the first |
