I'd say something around Schenn + Boeser for Weegar...but I don't think we want Weegar until he is 37. Likely still a good top 4 guy until 34/35 though.

If there is some semblance of truth to this:

Carolina Hurricanes GM Don Waddell admitted to The Athletic his 2023 first-round pick is “in play this year.” He’d prefer to deal it in a package for a player with term (Exhibit A: Timo Meier; Exhibit B: J.T. Miller), but he says he’s keeping his mind open.

Carolina is a team that could bets utilize him. He would have 4 other guys that can cover his defensive warts, and he would bring much needed offense as well as improve their PP.

It makes a lot of sense. Just whether Carolina is willing to go for it.

I don't know what else would come with but looked at Scott Wheeler's rankings (which I think he is terrible but easy to show reference)

Top tier for them Morrow in College RHD and Nikishin LHD in Russia at the top in same tier as Lekkerimaki. Morrow being ranked a little higher than Van's Truscott.

They have a lot of question mark players from Europe some of the same as Van has Forsell, Zlodeyev.

Then they have a lot of similar players that are early 20s and are doing avg in the AHL. Klimovich, Bains types

He has them 12th ranked 16 spots ahead of Vancouver basically because they have one more player in a higher tier and Kotcheykov has more experience than Silovs in goal.

Price would need to be right and I doubt Morrow is on the table. Which means Canucks may not do it. Their 1st doesn't have a ton of value as it will be between 26-32.

The chances it becomes a ROR trade to STL.

Patrik Berglund · $3,850,000
Vladimír Sobotka · $3,500,000
Tage Thompson · $925,000
2019 1st round pick (STL - #31 - Ryan Johnson) [Conditional]*
2021 2nd round pick (STL - #49 - Ben Roger)

I doubt Van will have to take back bad contracts like Buffalo did.

Until last season when Thompson went BOOM!!! That looked like a brutal trade for Buf. Johnson looks like he is going to free agency from College end of this season. Ben Roger is trending towards never playing an NHL game.

It would be huge if they could get assets and dump JTM, a longshot at best. But you never know?

Friedman on TJMS says he thinks the Preds will move a defenceman, doesn’t think it will be Ekholm or Carrier, thinks it’s a Fabbro or something else.

I don't think the Canucks would get the haul for him that he would have fetched last year, but I'd be happy with 2023 1st and a B+ prospect (don't think they'd give up Jack Drury, so Jamieson Rees or Ryan Suzuki? )

Might have to retain a bit, which is fine with me... maybe that could push it up to Drury area? Retain 1.25 or something

A few of you were talking the other day about the closest galaxy being 244 trillion Kms away.

Have you really forgotten about this little piece of work terrorizing the galaxy since the early sixties?

An equivalent would be Drury, 2023 1st, 2024 2nd I guess.

I don't think we can retain on the 8m since that contract hasn't start yet. Unless I'm mistaken. I remember reading hat somewhere.

I'm not sure what some are expecting from getting Drury. 23 year old with 24 games and 4 points so far.

You are probably getting a player like Jack Studnicka.

Probably, I think him lighting up the AHL and then getting 2 goals in 2 games during a call up made everyone think he was going to blow up this year. I didn't realize he is already 23...

He just turned last week. Has 15 points in 25 games in the AHL this season.

Has been trending upwards but has plateaued.
