I don't differ with you on the rebuild idea. They are not going to do it, imo. They should, but won't.
I'm not basing my Petey wanting to leave on any garbage out there, just my opinion that he doesn't need the drama of this dysfunctional organization. He is young, rich, and wants to win, and it isn't happen here anytime soon. And once again Bedard doesn't add any depth to the D or to the overall squad except as 1 player, all be it great prospect. If you think that is all it takes, then the Coilers should have won't multiple times with McD alone. And that is my fear that they do win the lottery and pick Bedard and think we are good to go. Once again look at the Rangers with Laf. 3 years in and just figuring it out on the 3rd line on a good team.

- carsonagenic

I again think Petey is here to stay. He looks engaged and now is stepping up in Horvat's void. He looks like know he knows this is his team. I will leave the Petey issue at wake me up when he is gone.

Again until the Canucks are clear about what direction they are going all of us are guessing. They do a lot of sitting on the fence.

Do you trade Demko do you keep him? Do you trade Boeser? Yes they have a high draft pick but everything else they do have no hint of a teardown.

Boeser Miller Kuz Mik contracts tell me they have no desire to start over. I think this is year one of a two to three year plan. Now they fix the D and the best way is to get rid of the current one.

That's when you turn some of them into new prospects and players. This is how you keep building and it going.
OEL is just poop and poop is sticky. This is sticking for awhile yet, either in OEL himself or dead cap space.

- carsonagenic

Did the Rangers wait for their prospects and top picks to develop before they made trades or signings?

At that time, you are going to need to pay for them. You can't pay two sets of top line players.

You can't exactly get a RHD if you don't have cap space. It's a cap thing money in and out for so many players why an extra year or two makes no difference to me.

Keeping poop contracts like OEL's from my perspective shows other guys that they are committed to his poop contract and you are unable to sign others because no cap space.

- manvanfan

And this is where we can keep talking this over and over and over.
You seem to think that they are still a good enough team and that with a couple of moves they can compete for a Cup. A RHD here and a another superstar prospect there kind of thing.
And I don't.

Without a pipeline of solid / exceptional prospects pushing up, in critical positions, at ELC status, this is all lipstick on a pig.

I haven't believed they are a good enough team to take a top 3 spot in the division in a decade. Maybe if the entire team played to 90% they might have been fighting for a playoff spot.

I haven't liked most of the team in forever. Benning made the dumbest trades that killed off any future.

This new management hasn't exactly inspired anyone either.

We saw what happened when you add two very good players like Hughes and Pettersson. Team went up the standings.

If you keep bringing back the exact same roster every year, how are you going to find players that might actually be able to play together?

Serious question. Why not?

If you want a high draft pick this is the perfect team, no?

Play all year with Myers and trade him at TDL. Bottom five finish again and an extra draft pick.

When Dan Girardi was bought out. Shesterkin. That's it. They had not picked in the first round since 2012 Brady Skjei.

Just got off the phone with my sources. It sounds like Brock Boeser is headed to Calgary in a blockbuster deal. Expect Jonathan Huberdeau to go to Vancouver. #HockeyTwitter #Flames #Canucks #TradeDeadline

Like I said before. Shake this poop up!
1) Be truthful with the fans and stick to a plan. Either suck hard or don't suck. this cocktease middling stuff has to end
2) Trade all you can and get picks and prospects to fill the cupboards that are bare and critically empty in the vital positions.
3) Fix the cap situation by not spending on FA that are not required to achieve full sucking
4) When able, weaponize cap space and be on the good side for once.
5) Blow everybody away if outside the top 3, take 2 D men in the 1st round and a 3rd if you can acquire another 1st. 3 d-men in the first round would go along way in stocking the shelves and show the fans that poop is changing around here.
6) No more BPA undersize wingers unless they are Bedard.
7) Take a sledgehammer to the team bus and make it look mean

Drance points out Canucks didn't put Mikheyev on LTIR until they needed the space.

Today they put Pearson on LTIR... Is something else about to drop?

We are talking the same language.
I just say trade the players that have value and make us suckingly better for picks and prospects. Dress Delia, Dries, Chubbs, You, Me, whomever helps us achieve our full potential of tankness.

I know we are thinking similar. Scary for you.

It is the mixed messages. Tanking and the contracts signed since last summer are the dumbest plan.

If we are talking about their trade record and tanking now that makes sense.

They penned the letter that they were tanking and trading away more players at the next TDL.

Yep. De-Sather'd the team.
Got 2nd OA and 1st OA picks back to back years.
Made some good trades, and buyouts at the right time, and now their roster looks pretty stacked top to bottom, and F thru D with top goaltending, 14-1 to win the Cup, that is a decent bet.

With all the cap the team is allowed to exceed the upper limit on, I hope they can grab a good player or 2, for the final playoff push.

He doesn't exactly have the best track record. But hey, follow the stick boy if you want. He's also NHL personnel.
- Load Management

He was once in the NHL as an analyst for the Leafs, he is going to have the best insight into hockey operations. Only the best can be quoted on hockey matters, Charron, Milbury, Cherry, Hirsch all the top in their field and should be revered the way manvanfan does,

I'd take that plan for the Canucks. First step was buyout Girardi. We know what they have to do then
