Perfect time to start winning to tank our draft pic... the canuck way.

Yup, we’re close enough where we could finish 12 from last. Everyone else in the bottom 10 is selling, we’re trying hard to win. Imagine if Demko plays like good Demko when he returns.

As I mentioned before, the big Bruins trade happens on the 25th.

How about that save by petey with the goalie pulled, never see mcdavid do that lol. He can do it all, he looked like Gretzky on the game winner taking the bull by the horns.

I would think the more they retain in actual dollars, the higher the pick.

Canucks are selling as well and they have shut down players. This makes you think they are trying to win?

Now you can’t stop a star like Petey from wanting to win and score. It’s going to happen. Not the result every game. Kuzmenko and JTM also pushing it.

How many ahlers playing?they are doing everything they can from a management point of view, players don’t play to lose.

They’ve proven over n over for a few years there is no quit in them. Fans conveniently ignore that.

Can’t help but admire it. Blues not scoring on empty net was Canucks wanting to win and not give up.

Tocchet looks like he has the whole team motivated again. I really want Bedard, but if they play as well as they have in the last few games, they’ll be playing themselves out of that race.

Nice win boys 👍🥰🤩, gotta find who wants to be apart of the change, loving Kuzmenko more and more, and congrats to Silovs, I see pieces of the whole, now it's on management to expedite the moves required to build around EP

They are playing better defensively as a team.

The team D the root of the problem is showing real improvement. Use the offseason to continue the process.

It’s also about the system and how they play it. It can’t be learned in September alone. So they get the time to know it.

Right now, it takes heroic efforts to produce wins so this isn’t sustainable. They will lose a lot more. So they will have a shot at the Bedard lotto.

New piece on the Athletic about Russ and his drama, very good read for those with a subscription:

Inside Russell Wilson’s no-good year

The measurables were bad enough: Russell Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowler, crumbled in his first year outside Seattle. A 5-12 record and frankly horrendous play made what many thought would be a good team into a laughingstock. And there was the $245 million contract on top of it.

Somehow, it was worse than that, according to a bombshell report this morning from Kalyn Kahler, Jayson Jenks and Mike Sando, who talked to more than 15 players, coaches and staffers for the story. The juicy details are eye-popping:

Before the trade, Wilson asked Seahawks ownership to fire head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider. The quarterback was convinced those two were hamstringing his chances for success. He even had a preferred coach in mind: Sean Payton. Days later, Seattle dealt Wilson to Denver.

There, Wilson installed his own support staff alongside Broncos personnel. Wilson had his own office too, which blurred the line between coach and player — in a bad way. Wilson even brought his own quarterback coach, Jake Heaps. Who was Wilson listening to? Heaps? Or Nathaniel Hackett, the head coach known for coaching QBs? And what about actual Broncos quarterbacks coach Klint Kubiak? It sounds like a disaster.

Wilson even asked offensive players to come into the facility on Tuesdays — the only day players have off during game weeks — for “state of the union” meetings, which usually included film sessions. Wilson and Heaps ran these meetings. Some players said they were helpful, while others thought they were weird.

Wilson did get his wish in one sense: Payton is the new Broncos head coach, and has already said Heaps and other Wilson staffers won’t have a significant presence inside the facility.

The full story is worth your time.

I guess winning that one Super Bowl gave him a bigger head than anyone ever guessed. There were rumblings before the trade that players on the Seahawks (specifically players that left like Sherman, Wagner, Wright) all left to some degree because of Wilson and his big head. I've always wondered if the play call on the 1 yard line in the Super Bowl was Caroll's decision or Wilson calling it himself wanting to be the hero and cockblocking Lynch from taking all the glory. This story makes that seem much more likely.

In hockey terms, I guess that makes Wilson equal Miller in terms of selfishness, pettiness and prima donna-ism and locker room disruption.
