If they dump Boeser for a first or Second all could be moot.... guess wait and see.... I would have preferred this move after we tank the season though

I'm really hoping Alvin has a few other moves up his sleeve.
The cash allotted to wingers and that backend ain't sustainable.
If this was done in a vacuum and the plan is summer buy-outs,....that's atrocious lol. |

I don’t mind the Hronek acquisition. The Canucks record of drafting and development is soooo poopty at least Hronek is a NHLer. Can’t say that for anything after the top 10 this year. I doubt our 1st from last year even becomes a fulltime NHL player. I don’t trust this organization with Picks outside of the top 10. And even then we pick Virtanens and Joulevi’s half the time. |

A team 6th from the bottom making win now moves still
Also with no cap space again next season to start with Something they talked about doing for a year now. |

I want a rebuild, and we actually had an extra 1st rounder for the first time in a long time. As well as the potential to add more picks.
Except this team just couldn't handle having that kind of change in their pocket and went kid in a candy store instead.
I hope NYI doesn't give up their pick and it is top5 next year now... |

This is not a win now move.
This is a safe bet on a player with some term for a lottery ticket.
It's consistent with their approach of late.

It’s not win now. Paying a top 10 pick+ for Chychrun would be a win now move. Our organization is well below average at drafting. Would you rather us piss away another pick on a Brendan Gaunce or Nick Jensen of Patrick white? |

I don’t hate it at all, providing it’s the Islanders pick…LOL! A 25 year old right shot dman fits perfectly in a five year window for Pettersson, Hughes and the player they pick 1-6th overall.
I suspect there’s more coming though, trades… |

We finally have our right side D man to play with Quinn. Like the player, hate the cost. Per Pagnotta Vancouver has several irons in the fire so lets hope we can move out some money and regain some picks. |

So we agree it's a net positive move that improves the team.
Noted.
That still doesn't mean they're trying to 'win now' with the trade.

So just abandon the draft model winning teams use for depth, talent , and cap space out of fear?
This team is a mess and they are destroying the fanbase along with it.
Fans are now afraid of drafting, regardless of the GM of this team...

Nobody is paying a top 10 pick for Chychrun if you hadn't noticed.
