Unless they are willing to completely rebuild through the draft, which was never going to be the case with Pettersson & Hughes on the roster, these types of moves are expected. They said they were going to do this type of move, and they have.

They still have a most likely top 7 overall pick. For now….

If they draft Reinbacher and now have Hronek this improves, significantly, that backend.

• Filip Hronek is a good player having a very good year. RHD cost a lot and VAN doesn't have any good ones.

• VAN moving high picks for a 25-year-old is.. confusing.

Not unexpected, as I said, this is what they forecasted. With Pettersson and Hughes on the team they want to win in the next five years for those guys and still keep an eye on things long term. Which they will with their own first round pick, I don’t see them trading that.

Canadian teams making American teams stronger, American teams helping out American teams, it’s clear as day except TO but they are a big market, it’s all about the money we will never win the cup.

2 silver linings:

1) we still have our own top 10 pick (for now)
2) if this 1-2 year turnaround fails, we don't have long to wait before an actual rebuild

According to a recent pick value chart the difference in value between those two sets of numbers is pretty well Van added a high 2nd round pick worth of value.

It's going to take a lot more for this team to turn it around than Hronek. Beauvillier has come in and played great and team is no different, traded for Bear who was an upgrade, team no different.

I would have much rather seen what was available in the draft with the NYI pick then to give it away.

It's fine if the team makes moves. Timing of the moves and price being paid, It's something the Canucks GM never seem to get bang on.

To on the way to the bottom, better trade away 1sts.

So just abandon the draft model winning teams use for depth, talent , and cap space out of fear?
This team is a mess and they are destroying the fanbase along with it.

There better be more moves to come, as far as rebuilding that backend. If you’re gonna support Petey and Hughes, then do it, don’t piss around. Whether I/we like it or not, this is the direction they’re gonna take things.

Personally, I’d like to see a complete rebuild, but that would realistically mean trading both Pettersson and Hughes. They aren’t doin that.

The highest potential value in the Horvat deal was the unprotected NYI pick in 24'. Vancouver has now wasted that
