No player ever regresses after their rookie year.

There isn’t a term called sophomore slump either.

Everyone just gets better.

- ImThatGuy

Yeah, and unless you’re Tyler Myers, most players don’t generally peak in their rookie seasons either.

I’m not expecting every young player we have to not face adversity as move along here, but to sit here and pretend that the roster as us won’t improve next year just from individual players progressing is bull poop

No other team has young players “scratching the surface” either

He was terrible but good try. The 2nd goal was a brutal rebound
- Sabretooth9

I don't like UPL and don't think he's anything better than an NHL backup, but he wasn't the issue today. He held us in the game when it was 0-0. Goal 2 ws a bad rebound and that canpt happen but that's why he's an NHL backup.

Team should be embarrassed for those last 3 minutes

The proof is in the pudding. This team is not even close to be ready for prime time. They now lose to the best and worst teams. They cannot even win on the road. Just tank and get another good draft pick. Kevin sure isn't going to make any meaningful trades so there is no other choice. A 20 year rebuild is his only way forward. Oh my!
- FireRuff

They can't win on the road? You may want to check their road record. Winning at home is the issue

Inevitably if they do nothing when the Sabres are in the same position with the same roster next year what will the excuse be.

I think UPLs problem is he's not an NHL goalie period. The fact KA is excited about the goaltenders tells me he doesn't get excited very much.

The blame goes to our head coach as well, you don't pull your goalie with almost 5 and half minutes left.

and what is he going to do ? people said the same thing about UPL. We need a veteran goalie for a couple years. Throw that kid in and your asking for problems.

All goalie prospects come in with some sort of hype.

Levi is not remotely close to a slam dunk starting nhl goalie

Upl. Remember that guy. He was the best goalie of his age group/ turning pro. How did that turn out?

Cal Peterson. Amazing college career. How did that turn out?

To just Levi or any goalie coming in ….. it’s roch for 2-3 years and then see what he can do coming up

Exactly. How was Hasek his first couple years as a pro?

Hasek had an .895 save percentage his first two seasons.

Half the posters here would have traded him away for a box of popsicles on a warm summer's day.

Started slow but he was showing flashes, he's upping his consistency.

Are you interested in signing Mittelstadt to a 4 year extension at just under $5M per this offseason?

That's what Zacha got, and there are similarities between them.

There's no more excuses that Kevin Adams can have next year. He must make the necessary trades and pickups to make this team a Stanley Cup contender. No more waiting for next year

All indications are that this is Bergeron and Krejci’s last dance.

Stamkos and Hedman aren’t getting any younger.

The Leafs are potentially 12 months away from losing Matthews.

I’ll see you Carolina, New Jersey, and Ottawa.

If Adams doesn’t make his moves by next years deadline, I’ll join you on the peace bridge

- Swedish_Jesus

Noticed you moved the goalposts a bit there.

Previously, you said if he doesn't make moves this offseason, you'd be unhappy.

Now you're giving him until next season's trade deadline?

The improvement next season could be net neutral as while the young players can improve, the crazy production from all of Dahlin, Tage, Tuch and Skinner could come back to more realistic levels.

I wouldn't plan on the peak level production from them being the same next season.

Adams tomorrow after the 3PM trade deadline passes: You know, I really like our team. They're working hard. They've shown a commitment to this community. They really like each other. It's a good locker room environment.

I’m expecting him to do both.

I also expected from the very beginning of the offseason to be playing meaningful games in March this year whether we ultimately made the playoffs or not.

This season is going exactly as I expected it to 🤷🏻‍♂️

Funny how during the drought I’ve been the “tank commander” telling everyone that the teams underlyings have stunk and the early season mirages were going to fade, yet the one time im optimistic from day 1 it gets met with skepticism. I can never win with you people.

The day the majority on here actually agree with me, that’s when I know I’m screwed.

May want to try out one of those so you don't tear your rotator cuff patting yourself on the back.

Eh probably not. Maybe it's just too little too late with Mitts? We have potential prospects gunning for his spot, so I'd be looking to move him next season if the likes of Kulich, Savoie, Ostlund look ready for some time. If they aren't you atleast have Mitts to insulate them for a year.

Bottom six is gonna be where most of the player movements will come from. You probably have 5 of 6 already here and atleast for 3 more of your top 6. Gonna be interesting to see the decisions made this offseason. Gonna tell alot how the next couple years will go personal wise.
