Schenn is actually a serviceable bottom 6 defenseman though.

Bloom was also a 3rd, almost a 4th. But Schenn has the more familiar name, so it feels worse than it is. Neither moves are that good, nor do they hurt either team that much.

But that's no fun on the internet.

Who's that

Toronto's entire offense is expected to be a UFA at the end of their contracts. Matthews and Nylander in 2024, Marner and Tavares in 2025, Bunting, ROR, Jankrok, Kerfoot, Acciari all this offseason. No RFAs so they will have some serious negotiating to do.

They really need to go for it now and next year because unless they take some discounts it will be hard to pay for everyone. Tavares dropping off will help but Matthews is going to get 13+ and Nylander 9+ in the open market.

We are still shocked that more folks are not in the "be careful what you wish for" camp when it comes to this team and where we are right now regarding trading for players. Personally, I am happy watching this team as-is for the rest of the year, come what may. If we fill some more needs with smart (or at least middling-level) moves, great but I am trying to offset some of the sky-is-falling-cuz-team x-got-so-and-so moaning that goes on here.

Plus/Minus not the best stat but Schenn is a +9 and Bryson is a -21.

Who you want playing in that 6th spot?

Botts only traded away 1 first, 2 seconds. Murray traded away 2 1sts and 4 seconds (not counting a 2nd swap). He was bad at trading.

Not huge on Korpisalo, but he seems to play really well against us. If he can play 2 games a week, it's an upgrade over Andy imo.

Why doesn't anyone want to pay for Chychrun? Price on Meier, Orlov, Jeannot, Tarasenko and even Sandin and McCabe is high and not much more than what the ask for Chychrun is.
