Canes were one of the teams that didn't need to move money or need AZ to retain on Chychrun. Caps are another. Heard Jets aren't pot committed yet. Assume LA out. Buffalo sniffing around still. Pens in mix, but needs to clear $ in some fashion if it gets there. Options fleeting.

CHICK 100% sense for Buffalo, so, of course it won't happen. I understand Adams wants to build internally but (a) we have a ton of stud forward prospects and not that many spots on the roster and (b) have literally no stud D prospects and only a couple of moderate ones (Johnson being one)

Sure, but it still comes down to value. If we think that last year's firsts are all trending to be top 6 players then - coupled with our first ++ - would be giving up a ton for him. Quality prospects aren't being tossed around right now.

I would have as well. I think that is why so many teams bailed on the chase - there were reasonable facsimiles elsewhere.

Right, but we do need another D and Anaheim needs to move him to get *something* back. If we don't want to move a top prospect for Chickenman then you do what everyone else did and get the next best thing for a pick.
