Also, it’s hilarious to me to keep saying he has “a plan”. Like not every single GM in the history of sports doesn’t have a “plan” when they’re hired.

He should’ve adjusted this master plan when Thompson looked like an MVP and Dahlin looked like a Norris candidate

First in the offseason he sat on his ass and watched as all the teams around them added talent, and he added Comrie. Now he's sitting on his ass watching as all the teams around them are adding talent and he adds Cory Stillman's kid. There are still 2 days before the deadline. I really hope I'm getting ahead of myself, but past performance leads me to believe I'm not.

You’re not. They aren’t nabbing some star player no one thinks is going to get traded.

They had two star players on their radar, both would’ve fit like gloves and they both went to eastern conference teams we will be competing with for years to come

The GM is massively over rated and is living off of Botterill’s players

Plus, I would hesitate to bring in a family friend of the owner/Big Fan Boy Terry. That could f up the room real quick. Not worth the risk. Other good d will come and we will be there ready.

This of all the doo doo rationalization I have heard for the Sabres not utilizing the full breath of their available picks, prospects, players and huge salary cap, is the best reason to not go gung ho after this guy. Did not think of that. I still would have made sure I did everything I could to make the trade happen since this was it seems likely the player that best fit the Sabres needs but today and in the short term future. I believe that it is a failure on the general manager's part to have not gotten the deal done.

Well said.

Need to not forget Adams' unwillingness or inability to make a legitimate beneficial offseason move this past year. As other posters have said, the first win in a trade or FA acquisition that was not forced upon him seems like it will be his first.

But there still are two days of hopefullness left. And even then if the Sabres win five more games this season it will be more wins than they have won in the past four seasons, either straight up wins or win totals extrapolated out from shortened seasons.

A good thing but not an excuse to do nothing of any legitimate significance on multiplie opportunities to make a positive difference. IMO

If you or anyone else thinks he's trading away his first round pick for anyone, don't hold your breath. It'll be less painful come 3pm, Friday.

It's fine if you want to hope and go with internal growth. But you have to have the players to do that. Sabres don't have that Defensively. Interesting that some of these trades that went down Young Dman went back in them. Sabres don't have that, atleast enough Depth to use a young Dman in a trade.
- Buff36

Another example of a recent trade for a high impact player where a quality defense prospect was the key in making the deal work.

I believe that you will likely be correct but if Adams had operated from a position that he would not trade that first for any player or opportunity then he is at best short sighted to put it nicely, IMO.

Need to pull off a VO+ for a D upgrade in the worst way this summer.

No more assessing. Everyone knows where the weaknesses are and where they have prospects.

- Lunaion

You're going to be thrilled when they make all their picks in the 1st and 2nd round this upcoming draft, and one or none of those picks are used on defenseman 😆😂

I wouldn't say all of those players excelled early in their careers. Plus other than JJ those are all top 10 talents, their timelines are sometimes different. Where the Sabres are picking the next few seasons I don't expect many of them to be up right away or even in a year. And I don't expect many of them to contribute on a consistent basis for a few years, especially if they're defensemen.
- Zschalberg

There are other meaningful ways for prospects, especially prospect defensemen, to contribute before making an NHL roster.

Just look at a bunch of trades for impact players the past few seasons, like Meier and Fiala for two examples.

Those 2nd's are just begging to be traded. If he makes all the picks and goes almost all F again, that would be tough to watch.

It's a learning process for him too. Have to hope he develops.

Always got to look at the bigger picture. Adams is still looking for the Frames.

Nov. 4th 2020 ... Sabres sign goaltender Dustin Tokarski. Two years. $725,000 per.

Oct. 25th 2020 ... Sabres sign Linus Ullmark. One year. $2.6 million.

Don't worry, we're covered. We've got Ticker at two years because he's a third of the money of Linus, whom we low balled.

This will work out fine. I'm a top 5 GM.

Well I hope Adams has learned over the last year about the deficiencies in his prospect pool. It is affecting more than just depth and the on ice product. Everyone ripped on Botts for hoarding D. He had the right idea just at the wrong time.

There's teams out there looking for scoring Wingers. Does Adams have the Balls to move Olofsson to one and maybe get a piece or 2 that helps with the future. Go talk with Vegas, they have a plethora of D.

Vegas already has a Vic, who isn't nearly as well liked by his teammates. Honestly i think Vic might be better defensively than Jack.

Well Vic and Eichel had a decent 54gms together before Eichel got hurt. Olofsson had 42pts in 54gms with Eichel.
