Scheifele earned the pitchforks last year as there was tons of examples of horrible defensive play and uninspired effort.

This year he has bounced back and has been great, way more engaged.

Pionk’s play has fallen off a cliff, it’s hard to watch some shifts.
Maybe would be good for him to watch from the press box a game or two

Scheifele is great! I remember all the pitchforks that were out for him last year. Definitely my favorite Jet.

Namestnikov and Niedereiter have been great! Both guys are fun to watch. I do think the Jets need to do something about their puck possession. For some reason or another the play always looks like its in our end. Hellebyuck is definitely this team's MVP.

Watch how much the forwards dump and chase the puck when they have time/space to carry it in or pass it but just fire it in and give up possession for no reason at all and the other team breaks it out of their zone with ease.

Its all of them doing it too from the skilled lines to the grinder lines.

Its a major reason why the puck spends too much time in the Jets end of the rink.

That is another area where you can see the IQ of NN in that he doesn't give possession away on a line change, by just sending the puck into the opposing corner, if possible, and then skate off. Like last night, he took the puck into the Jets zone to maintain possession while the change was going on and then I think he got off after that. But, didnt give it away for the sake of the line change.

I have been saying this for years, Why do they just dump it in or do this idiotic flip to center and do a line change? Just give it back to the D and go off on a line change, why are they giving up puck possession?????

Something ironic about Nashville trading NN to us and now they are breathing down our neck in the wild-card race ..................

They're four points behind with the three games in hand.. lol
Preds are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, Jets are 3-5-2

It'll be wild if the Jets miss the playoffs, what will be the fallout from that....
BINGO!

Feel real bad for Nino if that happens. Guy deserves better.

Yea, think the Preds had sort of abandoned their playoff hopes...and now!

Actually hope the Jets extend NN for 3-4 years - and also would like them to re-sign Vlady for a year or two. Ehlers plays very well with Vlady. Don't see any rookies coming aboard next season, unless Lambert is ready (and who I wanted to trade a month ago - yikes!)

If the Jets want to make the playoffs they need to ride Helle the rest of the way. Don't imagine Saros will get many nights off for the Preds! And play AJF for gawd's sakes!

Jets sell high on Ehlers this summer, if they can. Not sure what the definition of high is anymore with Ehlers.....

If the Jets can win tonight, they may have a chance at playoffs but against the Bruins??

Smashville is on a 3 game win streak and play Chicago........ not looking positive for Wpg.

This TV pundit BS about Chevy having confidence in the room is complete opposite.... they don't have confidence in the room and thus didn't augment aside from NN and NMKTV where they absolutely had too.

NN appears to be a well spent 2n round pick, the organization is gonna luv him.

I think we absolutely have to re-sign/trade all our UFA's or RFA's this summer, including NN, Scheifele, PLD, DeMelo and Hellebuyck. Re-up or "good-bye!"

We don't want to go into a season, and then be in contention at the trade deadline next season but have to move them then. Or lose them for nothing!

I think there might be a good chance that DeMelo and NN re-up, but he rest I doubt it. Of the others, I think that Helle is the most possible, although the bronx cheers lately won't help. He may want to also move closer to home as in Detroit.

Gagner done for season - hip surgery required.

Did he hit someone or get hit ?
If so, I missed it.....

Tonight's home game against the Bruins is a real litmus test as to what the Jets are capable of. I they can come up big and beat the best team in the league then there is definitely some hope for them. However, if they were to lose at home to the Bruins then one would surmise that they won't go far if they even make the playoffs.

This is a BIG game ! Go Jets !

Of course all games are big from here on in, but I'm looking forward to the Nashville and St. Louis games this weekend. HUGE! Preds vs Jets = war!

Hopefully the Bruins are all smug tonight with their playoff position secured. Glad it's not Ullmark!

So Chevy doesn't have confidence in the team he assembled, therein lies the problem.

Sit Pionk and Ehlers for the third period and the Jets might stand a chance.

I know some disagree on here but the only common denominator for when the Jets starting losing vs winning is Ehlers vs Perfetti.

Ehlers can put some points on the board but I think he is overall a liability on the ice and gets bumped off the puck easily against the tighter-checking teams. The Bruins really made him look bad last night and that's the type of hockey the Jets would expect to see if they make the playoffs. Ehlers is minus 6.

Perfetti can also put points on the board, but not quite as much as Ehlers....yet. However, Perfetti is very defensively responsible (plus 10 ). Perfetti played best on a line with Sheifele and Wheeler while Ehlers played best when he played with Dubios and Connor who can cover for his constant defensive gaffs. Unfortunately, Perfetti won't be back till the end of the regular season.

The other massive liability is Pionk. Why he gets soooo much ice time is completely beyond me. It's not just his defensive gaffs ( minus 13 ), he also makes very poor decisions with the puck. There must have been a half-dozen times in last night's game where he made poor pass choices in the O-zone and ended good zone time for the Jets. I remember the one in particular where Scheif was wide open on the left side for a one-timer and Pionk didn't even see him and took a weak low-chance shot.. You could see the disappointment on Schief's face. You could run an entire clip of poor decisions by Pionk last night. Message to Bowness.......sit him for a game or two ......please !!!!!

...and of course, we all miss PLD, especially against teams like the Bruins.

so Ehlers produces more than any other Jet in power play time per minute played!!! more than any other Jet!! yet here we are watching Wheeler get 6.30 of power play time to Ehlers 1.30 still????
sorry folks, this is not how you win. also, Samberg has proven to be one of our top shut down D yet Pionk, (our worst) plays almost twice as much.

this is not how you win

common!! Connor and Shief have been awful defensively, and could learn a lot from Ehlers about a 200' game. Ehlers cant control his lack of ice time and power play, Ehlers isnt the problem. how do you explain his superior analytics compared to those two and also leading the jets in points per minute pretty much every single year. Sheif and connor are back to there old horrible defensive game and the coach isnt helping, hes making it worse by over playing Wheeler

you guys are right, lets keep blaming Ehlers who leads this team in points per minute every year, has the best underlying numbers and the best contract on the team. lets keep playing him so little while we play Shief, Connor, Lowry, Wheels, Pionk and others sooooo much cause our results are awesome right? we are going to win the cup playing those guys soooo much right? hey lets give shief 10 million extension while we are at it, cause he clearly leads our team to great results.

Chipman, is our owner and we are stuck with him and he makes sure the guys who are paid the most, play the most!!! always has!!! we were playing Antropov top minutes until his contract ended and we are doing the same with Wheeler.

blame Chippy!!! he is the true coach and GM of this bad team
