McCann called up..doubtful they use 1 of their 5 remaining call ups for him to eat popcorn. - Santo_44
Both were emergency recalls, which do not count against the call-up limitations.

So Gus has good stats based on Papeti.
“Since 2007-2008, 380 defencemen have played 3000+ minutes at 5v5.
Erik Gustafsson ranks first in relative goal differential. His teams have fared far better when he's on the ice.
The puck bounced over his stick on his first shift as a Leaf, but he hasn't been on for a 5v5 GA.” - Woderwick
Yeah I think he has been fine. Need to take the kid gloves off to see how he does with more minutes, but do not think he will really get the chance.

He has been dominant.
200 foot game, (frank) just looking at points. We've watched the Leafs long enough to know thats not even close to enough data to judge a player or prospect.
He has been dominant. The scouts are saying it, his own team is saying it, the fans are saying it, the charts are saying it, every GM wants him in a trade.
He is the most legit prospect we have had since the big guys(AM, Marner, Nylander) - Santo_44
He's #3 on his line and is a D+2 player in the NCAA putting up points on one of the best college teams in the US.
I'm not saying he won't be able to translate his skillset to the big league, but I'm - at best - cautiously optimistic.
Which is to say, I don't give a (frank) what scouts say.
We'll see how he does. |

First day back since January for me. He tacked another week on because I used an alt. |

I have higher hopes for him than I did for Robertson. |

Maybe Kreider maybe better. If he's a top six LW on the Leafs, more upside than most. Over age or not, good shot, decent wheels likes to hit, not much not to like. He's the main reason Cooley and Snuggerud have room to play. - winsix
So, as good as or better than Kreider? That's some hype, brother - I hope he lives up to it.
As for being the "main reason" for giving Cooley and Snuggerud room to play, I think that seriously underestimates just how great those two players are. |

The others can't put up points because of Knies too?
Plus he is #1 in goals of the 3...He is the one putting the puck in the net. He is also the one with size on top of the skill. secondary assists right? That makes the difference
Krieder played with Gaudreau, both helped each other out then. |

He has more goals then both of them.
The charts say it.
The scouts are saying it.
The voters are saying it.
But yeah hockey DB and those secondary assists take the cake huh? |

Knies may not be the best player on his line (Logan Cooley) but he and Fantilli are freshmen and that apparently means something. He even might have a chance at winning the Hobey Baker. - mikeinbuffalo
Knies is not a freshman. Or am I reading this wrong. |

He has 1 more goal than Snuggerud. He has 3 more goals than Cooley (who played 1 less game).
He's also 20 years old while his linemates are both 18.
He's no sure thing, Santo. Despite what you and the never-wrong-about-any-prospect scouts and voters seem to think.
I am hopefully for the kid but the hype is out of control. Relax. |

Did not say he was a sure thing.
And I don't think the voters, scouts, ect think they are never wrong. Just projecting a player that has a really damn good set of stats and play in front of them?
If you don't like a Leaf player getting hype thats fine, you do not have to. But the stats and respectable voices are right in front of your eyes.
Don't let Leaf anxiety bring you down, the Leafs are allowed to have good things

Leaf anxiety I tell ya, gets the best of some people sometime.
Knies just had a really good set of 2 seasons, and deserves the respect he is going to get coming in here. I also do not see anyone saying he is going to be a superstar. Just people are excited to see what he can do coming in and thats pretty fair if you ask me. |

Probably about the time Dubas should maybe be wondering why he figured he needed 9 NHL defenceman but having only 12 NHL forwards would be a good idea. 🤔 |

Wonder how long Knies, a 20 year old man with no professional hockey history whatsoever, will get to become a dominant top 6 forward on a cup contender who already has a deep offence before people start calling him a flop. |

I don't want to debate this.
I just have one question, will you come in and say you are wrong if he plays in the playoffs?
Because me I do not know what will happen. But I do know there is a chance it can go either way.
Like it has in history. |

I’m hoping he’s good grinder with decent hands. If you can get that with a second round pick that’s good scouting. |

Nah it has to be elite superstar or complete bust.

All I’m saying is that it isn’t guaranteed and I know there will be a boatload of leaf fans who will consider him a bust due to it.
Good chance for him sure but absolutely zero guarantee he’ll be able to step into the most difficult pro league on the planet with absolutely zero pro experience, especially for a cup contender. He won’t make it unless he earns it, no free experimental passes on this team. |
