Keep in mind that at the beginning of the season our management "liked this D with Poolman healthy".

The thing about Gavrikov if he is as good as people think then LA probably won't let him hit the UFA market.

Again a kid I really like and have seen play a few times is Montreal's Russian with the name that has now vowels. Good tough young kid big and will step up to fight for his team mates.

They have really liked him in LA so far. They likely won’t have the cap space. But it’s possible they find a way

They have about 9 mil in space with 17 players. I think they will be fine. Edler McEwen Korpisalo should be in the 3.2 mil combined area. Vilardi will get a raise but they will figure it out.

I am hoping this crew learn from mistakes.
- VANTEL

Me too but don't forget they came in pointing at Benning's mistakes just to reconsider and run with it anyways... which was a mistake, then reconsider again... and we'll see if they learn or not I guess.

This crew, despite some early mistakes in judging what they had, is infinitely smarter than Benning. Mr. Benning would never have traded Horvat, he’d have given him the 8.5 million for eight years.

Strongly rumoured has said will test UFA. Not up to LAK. So he wants to get paid for one & the where could be another factor.

Benning never had any creativity or the ability to build a team on his own. FA not listening to TL was a huge setback he is responsible for & including the moves Benning made.

How? There was no cap space to do it after Miller and all the other signings that came first. Petey only 1 year after coming up... maybe he trades Miller but he would have had to do the same... choose one. Miller was his guy and had a monster year. Maybe Benning does the same...

We can speculate what he would have done but that's as far as it goes and our imagination is limited by cap space(for those who try and keep it realistic).

Staying within striking range of #1 would be awesome. Let's not split hairs between 6.5% or 3.0%. Either way you're gong to need good fortune. Something that's been lacking for over 50 years.

It's kind of incredible how bad the luck has been, we must be due for some good luck.

One of the good luck years they have is 2005, drafting Luc Bourdon at 10th overall we moved up from the 20's.

Wow, it's pretty bad when the Bourdon pick is considered the good luck pick.

It all started with Perreault in 1970. I mean the Sabres haven't won squat either but they landed a bonafide superstar at 1st overall in their 1st draft.

They've drafted 1st overall 4 times.

If you look at teams like TB LA CHI drafting was very important but when the owners say no lets make money instead what can you do?

Scouts should have listened to the analytics and could've had him instead of Lekkerimaki.

2 of those teams won lotteries & drafted very high on top of that. 1 of those teams was horrible for many years. LAK took awhile & then also rebuilt well.

FA is the problem. Meddles & stupid.

I am going to disagree with the stupid part. He is a businessman making lots of money. He is not going to okay a play to pay 82 million in salaries to have an empty building.

He makes money selling jerseys and overpriced food and beverage. He is a businessman not a hockey man.

He is stupid. Slumlord Daddy made the family fortune. Born lucky.

Any owner could do no worse in Vancouver. They’ve made money ever since the Griffith building their own rink & leaving the PNE.

Absentee owner McCaw had better teams.
