You can see why Hughes didn't get any Norris votes, are you talking about last season?

Hughes has the 16th best 5v5 goal differential in the league this year. Considering every other defender ahead of him is playing on a top 10 team and has a decent defender to play with.

Hughes most minutes with Bear, Myers, Juulsen and Schenn this season.

Try watching the game. Fancy stats don’t alway tell the truth. Like I said he’s a great pp specialist, he’ll probably get introduced to Demko at the year end celebration picnic.

Abbotsford playing Manitoba again at noon PT.

Can't decide whether or not to go watch again. Wasn't a very good game last time I have to say. For a group of players that are supposed to be just below the NHL level. Tape to tape passes are rare.

When your prospect pool is basically non existent then you should lower your expectations.

Tough loss tonight. The boys played well, should have got the 2 points, but the darn Bettman refs want to keep the final West playoff spot close, so gave the Flames the important PP.

At least the team got a point out of it and are still in contention for the coveted 11-13 spot in the draft.

Need to finish out the season with a few more wins, get used of the new systems and be ready for a full season under Tocchet.

Go Canucks Go.

For a minute I thought Lefty wrote this. Just stop it!

That's not really a fancy stat and you think I'm going to listen to your word?

Is he a stud top 10 defensive defensemen in the league? No he isn't but I never said he was. Is he as bad defensively as some that whine about everything, because he isn't their idea of a 1990s defensive defence, no he isn't.

You're going to base his entire season off a single overtime?

Marwood is even laughing at you.

Lol QH is not a one dimensional PP specialist. You knock him because he’s not a physical defenseman. Okay, but he still plays a modern defensive style taking pucks away or moving them out. Oh by the way his plus minus has improved carrying his partners 5v5.

Never said a thing about being physical, there’s lots of effective D that don’t play that way. His decision making in his own end needs to improve if he’s going to get any Norris votes. He played a poor game last night, basically invisible.

If the Flames had a chance to acquire QH you’d be raving about him. But hey it’s okay take your two points and miss the playoffs.

Leo Carlsson with a good game today.

/Cam Robinson/

Most playoff points by a draft-eligible in SHL HISTORY:

• Daniel Sedin 12
• Henrik Sedin 10
• Joakim Lindström 8
• Leo Carlsson 7*

*and counting

Pretty well contradicts everything you just said but sure.

That was last season as well, he's having a better season from what most insiders are saying.

His decision making is elite but even elite players have bad games or make mistakes. I’m not sure he’s a Norris candidate but that doesn’t mean he’s not effective at D.

Can't think Rick Tocchet will be happy with 2:00 penalty call that had Elias Pettersson in box for #Flames late 3rd period equalizer

According to #NHL rule book linesmen are only to call 4:00 minors for high stick infractions missed by ref (under Rule 32.4: Reporting to Referee)

KY commenting on Hughes' ceiling is on par. After all Markstrom 4 goals on 16 shots the 25% rule is pretty good. Torts would love it lol. After all GAA and save% really don't matter in the long run...

Maybe it’s time to give Demko a rest for the season. Perhaps give that goalie they just signed the remaining games. Would be a quite the tank move to remain with a mathematical chance at Bedard.

Not that it matters in the long run to Bettman but CGY did have a 'little' help from the refs last night. But, the best clubs play through it and find ways to win. Myers was an absolute disaster last night. Rough game.

Jeff Veillette

Not sure why any team would want this, when they could instead be using March and April to play their stars in Game 7 Playoff deployment and show other team's who's spooky

Saw this tweet and if it's not a slight against the Canucks, I don't know what is.

Might as well show the Bedard goal for the reason why.

He is back to playing top 4 again. Hopefully management can find a new home for him in the off season that doesn't cost them anything to do it.
