Just because it didn't work for those teams right now doesn't mean they haven't helped there future. Detroit dealt with a lot of injuries this year. - Buff36
To who?
Most everyone on their team has played in 60 or more games.
The honeymoon is over in Detroit.
Ottawa has lost 5 in a row.
The Sabres have their problems, but everyone who said that Detroit and Ottawa would lap us this year were wrong. |

I really want to be optimistic but these last couple of weeks have sucked the positive vibes I had about the Sabs out of me. - pwasil7
Things are never as good as they seem, but they are also never as bad as they seem.
Even with the flaws this team has, they’d have made the playoffs this year if Anderson was 10 years younger |

Replace Olofsson with a bonafide middle 6 forward.
Obtain a top 4 d-man
Trade for a #1 goalie.
It’s playoff or bust next year. - Swedish_Jesus
I don't see us signing a middle 6 forward, not with Kulich and Savoie needing jobs
Yes to a top 4 dman, I also think we need a 5/6 dman. The days of sending out Joker, Bryson, Klague and Stillman need to end. Keep Stillman and Joker as 7/8
Goalie trade or UFA - all for it, any ideas?

You need to chill out. I am a Maple Leaf fan, the Sabres are well positioned to make a move in the next few years. I can’t see the Maple Leafs or the Bruins or the Lightning maintaining their strength

These past few weeks have definitely dampened the optimism, but they've played pretty well and have been fun to watch most of the year.
Their problems are obvious. The only thing anyone can do is hope they decide to fix those problems over the summer. |

If the Sabres did the same thing this offseason that they did last offseason, which is nibble around the edges trying to buy from the clearance section, wouldn't next season still be playoffs or bust? - kingcong39
I’d say so. I think a lot of the questions that we had in the offseason were answered.
Tage’s breakout wasn’t a one-off.
Dahlin is a legitimate #1.
Power and Quinn are as advertised.
Cozens took the leap we thought he could, or at least some thought he could.
Peterka had some rough stretches like any rookie has, but has showed flashes of being a guy we can count on in the middle 6 moving forward.
Mittelstadt settled into being a pretty good depth forward.
Olofsson is Swedish Mike Hoffman. Make of that what you will.
Joker didn’t take the step he needed to and should be upgraded on.
Samuelsson has an injury riddled sophomore slump, we’ll see what next year brings for him.
Comrie was a cheap bet that didn’t pan out. Bon voyage.
UPL is a back-up goalie at best in the NHL, and with Levi here next year, I don’t see where he fits.

AMEN AND RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys can wish for all the frigging number 1 picks you want. A blind person could see that this management doesn't give a FUUCK about the fans or success. Adams Is a joke and this whole coaching staff sucks. The Sabres have a bunch of whimpy I don't want to compete if it is hard PRIMADONNA'S.... So go ahead... keep hoping to win the first overall pick... This team is screwed.... And the fans? Oh well y'all keep dreaming about how frigging close they are.... Jokes on you |

Pretty spot on.
Hopefully they do the right thing with Levi, and that's AHL time. |

It’s tough preaching patience to a fanbase that has a now 12 year playoff drought.
I’ve been fighting this battle day in and day out for the better part of 12 months though to no avail |

Sorry dude, you’re cool with it and think the future is bright. That’s cool we all think they have young talent.
But you don’t get to pretend that people who are sick and tired of this team losing are being unreasonable. You just don’t |

The team quitting is definitely disturbing. They had no quit all year, and to decide to start doing it in March? I just don't get it. |

As it has been pointed out... The first 3/4 of their schedule was relatively easy... Once they started playing some real teams they buckled in an instant and decided not to compete... They are an embarrassment as a group. Every damn one of them...

The Sabres are 16 months removed from trading their franchise Center and essentially starting over.
As nice as it would have been to end the drought this year, it doesn’t mean this season was a waste.
At least we aren’t Ottawa sitting here without a draft pick until the 4th round and moving 800 draft picks in the last calendar year (including two top 15 picks) to be sitting in the exact same spot we are.

Stop going to the games, Pegula doesn’t care whose fans are in the building just as long as it’s filled. Plain and simple stop going, this is a disgrace. |

Appreciate your time with another great blog.
Everyone should be disappointed losing to the Bruins at home 7-0 . I paid for some nice club seats this afternoon.
Premier game on the schedule.
I'm not sure if the coach lost the players or what?
Since the allstar break /trade deadline something broke.
Tuch, samuelsson and dahlin clearly injured.
Something else though, trading everyone's best friend for the coaches best friend smells fishy. Add in a guy like stillman.
Expectations got raised and lower .
I think okposo playes his last game today as well.
Just put the C on greenway and carry on. |

Lets remember.. The Sabres won that Eichel trade per most knowledgeable observers.... They suck period.. They have offensive skill true but beyond that they are a bunch of primadonna's

They are not primadonna's. Look up the meaning. Jack Eichel is a primadonna. These kids are not.
Soft? Sure. I'd agree w that. |
