Dylan Cozens, Jack Quinn, and JJ Peterka are already a legitimate second line.
Kulich just scored #19 tonight as an 18 year old in the AHL and Savoie is 6 points in his last 3 games away from a 100 point season in the WHL.
Good things come to those who wait - Swedish_Jesus
Zemgus Motherfücking Girgensons scored 15 goals shooting 13% in 61 games as a 21 year old in the NHL. It would take him 151 more games to score another 15 while shooting between 6.2% and 6.4% for the next four years. Things don't always go according to plan.
Sabres history is rife with young players lighting it up in the AHL only to totally fizzle out in the NHL. CJ Smith ring a bell? Nick Baptiste? Justin Bailey? Christ, how about Luke Adam? |

ROR is the outlier.
And good thing the Blues won the cup cause giving up Tage Thompson for a 32 year old that now plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs is yikes. - Swedish_Jesus
Remember when the Kings added Carter and Richards to Doughty, Kopitar and Quick and then traded for Justin Williams?
How did they survive that win now trade giving up Brayden Schenn? |

There’s just no way in hell Matt Savoie isn’t a superstar. He’s guaranteed to be one.
People will never learn. Prospects rarely hit their ceiling. |

So are you saying Tampa trading for Jeannot is bad?
Or Boston trading for Orlov and Hathaway?
Thank god you are nowhere involved in this franchise. - sabresfan69
I said trading prospects to win now solely because we don’t have patience to wait for them is idiotic.
Tampa and Boston are also cup contenders and those firsts will be late in the first round.
Big difference then trading prospects and top 15 draft picks like the examples I just gave…..
“We don’t care about prospects”
I guess everyone boos Dahlin, Power, Cozens, Quinn, and Peterka every time they touch the puck then ? They should have all been traded for guys who could have helped them win by now ?
Am I doing this right ? |

Well thats not true, you brought up Erat for Forsberg. You cant keep your story straight.
Don't you think its interesting the least physical team in the league collapsed at a time when you need to be most physical?

I was waiting for this post, cause this is the only other instance in the last decade where I can remember win-now trades actually working out.
Brayden Schenn, Wayne Simmonds, Jakub Voracek, and Sean Couterier were the players that went to Philly in those deals FYI.

What does actually working out mean to you, exactly?
Only matters if they win the cup, right? |

Detroit, Vancouver and St. Louis could pass us in the standings.
Vancouver for poop's sake. Vancouver.
Remember Vancouver fans wanting to burn down the arena they are so bad and now they are 5 points behind Buffalo. |

Did Philly win the cup? I can't remember but I know LA did. Also Couterier has never been traded. Quit sniffing the glue. |

And how many Cups have the Flyers won since? The Kings?
Yeah. |

If you don’t get the theme by now, that’s on you.
Sometimes, it’s better to wait for the prospect to develop.
Win-now trades blow up in your face more often than not.

Yes, you dunce. All those players killed it in the AHL and had tons and tons of hype. Hindsight is a hell of a drug. |

Dude I can put another 10 minutes into this and find another 100 trades of prospects for players that didn’t work out.
More often than not, you end up with egg on your face.
Heck I think I’d rather have Kulich and Levi current day then Reinhart right now and I think Reinhart is a good hockey player.
We get it, the Sabres have an 11 year playoff drought.
Adams is finally building the team how Tim Murray should have done in the first place and we wouldn’t be in this mess to begin with |

Saying "we can't trade any prospects because they're all for sure superstars" is the most asinine thing. |

What you’re trying to insinuate, is that the only way we can improve and become a good team besides doing absolutely nothing, is by trading away great prospects for average or aging players.
That’s what your examples are proving.
That’s asinine. There are cautionary tales of teams holding onto prospects way too long too.
Would you like some of those examples? |

Baptiste, Bailey, and Luke Adam never did what Quinn, Peterka, or Kulich did at the AHL level at their respective ages.
Yet I’m the dunce ?
