Yea except offering an opinion on a prospect isn’t what he’s doing at all. What I think he’s actually doing is expressing a pointlessly contrarian, unnuanced argument, based on faulty premises, and incorrect assumptions. It’s basically why every other word out of his mouth is “savoie” when literally no one has said that name but him.
But yea…Savoie dude. Can Savoie run and stop the run? See a pattern? - SoCalPucks
All those prospects for player trades really worked out for Mike Milbury am I right ?
Who needs Zdeno Chara, Wade Redden, Roberto Luongo, Jason Spezza, Bryan McCabe ? |

Run and stop the run is what you're dealing with.
It's on posters to realize who / whom they choose to debate.
I like Jewish_Jesus' opinion on the young prospects.
Seems like his specialty. |

So again, you’re arguing with some construct in your mind, and cherry-picking examples. The plural of anecdote is not data. Here’s a better question. How many pts do you think Ostlund, Rosen, Savoie, or Kulich project to have as NHL players and how many years will it take each of them to get there? This is of course added to the fact that it is highly likely at least one of those prospects is a bust.

I agree he has a lot of knowledge about prospects, but that knowledge is coupled with some pretty unbridled and unrealistic expectations of what they will do in the NHL. |

The only team to trade a prospect, or potential prospect, that are in the category of the aforementioned players was Ottawa.
Debrincant is an RFA with arbitration rights to lead him to UFA status.
Chychrun is looking like he’s about to haul a top 15 pick barring Ottawa either making a miracle playoff run or winning the lottery pushing the pick to next year.
Was the right idea to trade 7th OA, 38th OA, and a third for Debrincant ?
Should the Sabres have moved picks and prospects for Timo Meier sans extension ?
Heck the guy made a move (Greenway and Stillman) to appease the fan base giving him crap for doing nothing and not even two weeks later people are complaining about it.

I posted a clip from Twitter of Savoie scoring and it turned into a poop storm.
All I said was I project Savoie as a top 6 forward on this team in his prime.
That’s unrealistic ? |

Neither Matthew Barzal or Brayden Point had the WHL production that Matthew Savoie has had.
Does that mean Savoie is going to have a better NHL career than either of them ? No.
But when you watch Winnipeg you see a player that has loads of potential and he brings a skill set that can bring people out of his seats.
Dylan Strome was screwed around by the Blackhawks despite being the same player that Washington just extended 5 years $25M too.
Did he live up to the draft pedigree ? No. We’re there concerns about his skating in the OHL and racking up a ton of PP points playing with McDavid ? Yes.
9/10 a player with Dylan Stromes production in the OHL turn out to be star in the NHL. - Swedish_Jesus
You realize he had a better year WHILE McDavid was in the NHL, right?
And, yes, that's the whole point, potential. Give me a proven top line/pair player now for a "potential" star, but could also never see more than 12 minutes a night as a grinder.
Other than baseball hockey is the hardest sport to predict future success of prospects. They also have the youngest draft pool of NA major sports, funny that. |

Sure, and the proven player can also crap the bed and the prospects you traded for him can go on to have long NHL careers.
There are examples of this year in and year out.
I’ve mentioned several of them in the last 48 hours.
There is as great a likelihood of a trade not panning out as a prospect not panning out for various reasons.

Yeah, Ottawa really sped up their rebuild trading Zibanejad for Brassard.
Do you think Vegas wishes they held on to Nick Suzuki ?
How about the Sharks with Josh Norris and the pick that became Tim Stutzle for Erik Karlsson.
I’m all for Adams making moves, you don’t need to move Kulich or Savoie to do it.
I am also thrilled they didn’t trade Dylan Cozens or Jack Quinn either as one is already signed long term and the other won’t be too far behind. - Swedish_Jesus
The Rangers have had a bevy of prospects not work out or not come close to their ceilings. Including a 1st or 2nd overall pick.
Lafreniere
Kakko
Kravstov
None hit or have come close to hitting their potential. All viewed as good or better than Savoie or Kulich
They traded Nils Lundqvist.
They didn’t pretend there was only one way to build like you’re pretending there is.
They’re 7th overall in the league and a cup contender

He traded for Greenway as a plan B after failing to land some other unnamed piece. |

New York City being one of the best places on Earth to live and attracting Artemi Panarin and Adam Fox to sign there as free agents is not something Buffalo can replicate.
Drafting and developing high end talent, is something Buffalo can do.

The Sabres have their Fox and Panarin already, that’s not the point.
The point is they didn’t bank their entire hopes on guys they drafted. Especially Kakko and Laff.
They were able to pivot when necessary and make trades when they saw holes.
There’s not one singular way to do things.
Savoie might be great. Savoie also might have a serious knee injury next week and never play in the NHL. We don’t know what will happen.
They need to have eggs in all different types of baskets |

Adams has also said on a countless number of occasions he is open to acquiring a player with term.
He also recognizes he doesn’t necessarily have to move Savoie, Kulich, Ostlund, or Rosen it do it and I agree.
We’ll see what the offseason brings.

What about the other side? If I'm another gm holding a good player with term, I'm probably going to want one of your top 47 prospects in return. |

Can the player with term at least be better than Greenway?
Does the player need to have some kind of previous connection to Granato or be the child of a friend of Adams?
It'll be nice when the Sabres start taking winning as the number one priority. |

That's not what I'm telling you at all.
I'm telling you, as a European prospect signed through 24-25, he's going to remain there until then unless there's a mutual termination. - TheSabresTaco
Still feeling they will stick to the plan of Ostlund remaining in Sweden for 2023-24, then moving to Roch. Ostlund could move to SHL club if DIF doesn’t get back in.
