You really had to go to the far corners of Compuserve to find them, but they were there for sure.

Just when I think I'm out of following politics, they drag me back in.

I actually Iike his priorities, however I don't know how he's going to collect all the Infinity Stones in order to accomplish any of that.

I also am the proud owner of a hotmail address. It's vintage normcore cool.

Let's take a look, shall we?

The city's infrastructure is in dire need of repair. Major arteries are deteriorating at an aggressive rate and fixing them will require a considerable investment of hundreds of millions of dollars. Continuously raising taxes on residents is not a sustainable solution and only adds to the burden on citizens. Additionally, thousands of non-residents use our roads without contributing to the city's taxes, which is a problem. To address this issue, I will advocate for tolls on main arteries leading into the city for vehicles coming from outside areas to help fund infrastructure that is not the sole asset of the people of Toronto.

Not exactly a new idea, but OK, sure, I'd actually like to see it. So far, Frank has my vote.

Ensuring the safety of our city is of utmost importance to me. To achieve this goal, I'm committed to providing our police force with the necessary resources to carry out their duties with confidence and security. Moreover, I plan to equip them with the tools and training needed to address domestic abuse and mental health incidents, fostering a safer environment for both the people of Toronto and our law enforcement personnel who keep us all safe.

Ah yes, giving the police all the tools they need to make the city safer. With the exception of people on the far left, every politician in Canada says this. And it's a little confusing because in his preface, he says he won't raise taxes. Hmmmmm, I'm starting to waver in my support of Frank.

It's essential that we give our transit system a much-needed upgrade to encourage people to use it once more. We must increase ridership and make it self-sustaining, as it has been operating at a loss for far too long. Furthermore, the safety of our citizens while using the TTC must be a top priority. I pledge to tackle these concerns head on.

Frank's for a better TTC! Great! Once again, how are you going to pay for it? I find the bolded sentence the most concerning: no transit system on earth is self-sustaining. In fact, the problem with the TTC is it doesn't receive enough funding from all levels of government. Hmmmmm, I'm starting to think that Frankie-boy might not know what he's talking about.

Climate change is an undeniable reality that we must acknowledge and adapt to in our modern world. It is my aspiration for Toronto to take the lead in this movement. The federal government has already announced that gas-powered vehicles will be banned by 2030. As the mayor, I aim to introduce a green zone as a pilot project to demonstrate that Toronto can become the environmental leader in the nation.

If you are going to make climate change one of your main planks, best to have something better than a gimmick. Oh, Frankie.

Addressing the issue of homelessness directly and implementing sustainable solutions. It's unacceptable to ignore the plight of less fortunate individuals, they deserve the same care and support as any other citizen. This problem has persisted for far too long, and I am personally committed to getting it to a much better place.

Once again, really, really admirable, but how are you going to pay for it? And what are you going to do about it?

It's crucial that Toronto becomes an affordable city once again. I am committed to ensuring that all Toronto citizens have access to affordable housing, so that families don't have to move far away from their roots due to unaffordable living costs. To achieve this, I plan to facilitate the construction of more purpose-built affordable housing developments throughout the city.

See above.

Sadly, it seems Frankie knows as much about running a city as he does running a brewery.

For those of you too young to remember Steelback, it was a terrible beer, and Frankie lost loads of other people's money before it went bankrupt.

Lololol....yeah....policy is really complicated and hard. I don't see any actual policy solutions there either.

Sure, implement tolls. That's one concrete idea, and I'm down. Probably the thing that would get him not elected too.

I wish he would just reboot his Sicilian Vampire movie and leave the mayor's office to some other turd sandwich or possibly a giant douche

That's why I brought him up the other day.

Wedgie talked about how in Nashville they had a live band, and said the Leafs should do it, too. And I said not to give Frank D'Angelo any ideas. He already tried that bullpoop with the Argos years ago.

I got promoted at work and in the package was a computer at home. A tech guy came and fixed everything and explained how this 14.4 modem thingy worked. It sure was awesome stuff. Only a month or 2 later he was back and upgraded to 28.8 - and a perfect world just got even more perfect!

I used to play hockey with a guy who was a beer executive.

He used to tell stories about Frankie and Steelback, and we would piss ourselves laughing. Apparently the entire beer industry would laugh at Frankie.

The best story? He bought the sponsorship of the Toronto Indy - but apparently never paid a single dime. By the time the Toronto Indy realized he was a scam artist, it was too late, because they had already released all their marketing.

I used to see him every week at Chesswood Arena (this was 25 years ago). He was a goalie with custom D'Angelo pads. The rumour was he picked up the entire tab for his team, which played in the A division. He was at best a D goalie, but guys were willing to put up with him in net in exchange for free hockey.

I bought a computer in about 1994, which had 4 megs of RAM.

A couple of months later, I bought the computer version of EA NHL, which was incredibly glitchy on 4 MB of RAM - I needed to upgrade to 8.

At the time, it was $55 per MB (it's weird how I still remember that exact amount), so I dropped $220 and made my machine super-fast.

The game absolutely sucked compared to the console game, but the stats were way better.

Short answer: Barry Sherman.

Nope, not kidding.

Here's a fun little fact for you, courtesy of Frankie's Wikipedia page:

Bankruptcy
In November 2007, D'Angelo sold his majority stake in both Steelback and D'Angelo Brands to minority partner Barry Sherman, though D'Angelo remained as chairman of both, holding a minority interest. Later that month, citing poor revenue, high marketing costs and the weak Canadian dollar, D'Angelo announced that both Steelback and D'Angelo Brands had filed for bankruptcy protection.

In early 2008, it was revealed that Steelback and D'Angelo Brands owed Sherman's Wasanda Enterprises Inc. $101.2 million at the time of D'Angelo's "choosing" to sell his stake. D'Angelo was cut out of both companies, with Sherman citing the flamboyant former owner's extravagant spending on advertising (which alone exceeded revenues), as well as the poor quality of the beer that D'Angelo had been producing at Steelback.

Anyone remember what happened to Barry Sherman?

And from Sherman's page:

For fifteen years, Sherman partnered with Frank D'Angelo, a fruit-juice maker who was trying to branch out into other businesses. The two produced the Cheetah Power Surge energy drink and started Steelback Brewery; when D'Angelo Brands went bankrupt in 2007, Sherman lost C$100 million. Sherman continued backing D'Angelo's filmmaking venture even after D'Angelo was arrested on sexual assault and obstruction of justice charges, later dropped, in 2009. Sherman's money financed all eight films D'Angelo made through 2013.

Everybody likes Holl except for the fans. It’s always been my opinion that the fans know nothing about the game.
