I'm really craving osso buco and polenta with a nice Barolo now.

Anybody here involved in any racketeering or loansharking? Cause I sure could go for some!

Who else is running? Any actual politicians?
- Fakepartofme

A few.

https://globalnews.ca/new...o-mayor-by-election-june/

A few horrible choices.

A few fatally flawed candidates.

About three or four who are actually serious about running the city, and have the intelligence to do it.

Props to Josh Matlow - a rare politician who actually lays out a credible scheme to pay for the improvements he's proposing. Sadly, it's going to get him killed in the election (figuratively).

According to what I’ve been reading a lot of hockey people think Knies will not only make the team but actually be a difference maker.

Signing a bridge or long term deal would likely be at a much smaller AAV out of his sophomore season than his 3rd year.

Also if you don't sign him and play him this year he could very well go back go school next season...then next year this time he could just play one more season and sign wherever he wants.

- Santo_44

Has anyone heard from the kid or his people if he wants to drop out of school and become a pro as a sophomore?

Wonder what HE thinks about getting his degree or just going to play hockey. Might be critical info in all of this debate.

He's actually proposing road tolls for only people who live outside of Toronto, but come into the city to work and/or play.

It's an idea that will have wild support of Torontonians.

- Atomic Wedgie

You think so? I just think people will hear the two words road tolls and just not vote for Frank.

But he's probably just using a failed mayoral run to pad his resume for Premiere. This guys playing 3D bocce ball.

Let's hope it's figuratively anyway. He's running against some powerful people. Organized people. Family people.

Insofar as I'm aware, he has said that if the conditions were right, he would like to join the Leafs - he just wanted to wait until after the NCAA Division I Finals this year.

The Provincial Liberals floated the idea about 6-7 years ago - it had astonishing support within the City of Toronto, but was universally loathed by neighbouring cities, so the Liberals quietly killed the idea.

I personally have absolutely no problem with it.

Toronto tried to upload the DVP and Gardiner to the Province, and the Province told them to go Bozak themselves.

Let's be honest - they are 400 series highways. If the Province doesn't want to pay to maintain them, the City of Toronto should come up with "creative" ways to do so.

The talking heads seem to think that it’s a forgone conclusion that he’s signing with the leafs. I’m guessing that Dubas knows because he made sure that he left just enough cap space for him.

Interesting article on Sandin on the athletic.

I remember a lot of us, leaf fans all around getting mad at Sandin for not signing a contract until training camp.

Turns out his mother was battling cancer and he chose to put family first to stay in Sweden and be with her over signing a contract. Some on the Leafs didnt even know this.

Just shows that us fans need to shut the (frank) up sometimes when we complain about a player not signing, signing, playing bad. Sometimes there is a reason beyond them just playing bad or not putting pen to paper fast enough for us.

He hasn’t said anything definitively and he may not have decided. In the interview I heard he said that he’s really trying to put it out of his head and enjoy school and the current championship drive.

The easiest scenario is they win the Championship, he says job done and signs. If they don’t win it might depend on what his line mates do. If they’re it coming back, it might be easier to move on and I’ve heard that Cooley at least is likely to leave.

They also should give residents a break on their taxes for every cyclist they run off the road.

It depends on the rate. Office tower vacancy has grown from 2% to 14% in the last two years. Slamming commuters could end up costing more than it brings in.

"Mitzie Hunter

Mitzie Hunter, who has represented Scarborough-Guildwood since 2013 and is a former education minister, says she is preparing to formally declare a mayoral bid next week.

She would have to resign her provincial seat this spring in order to run, but she says she is “in it to win it.”

That would cut the leaderless Ontario Liberal caucus from eight to seven.

She says Toronto is at a critical moment and the city needs fresh, new leadership."

___________________________

That's great news. She's a (frank)ing moron, so her stepping down from her current post just to lose the Mayor vote would be excellent.
