+2 with an assist, couple blocks, a SOG. The eye test says he hasn't been a total liability everytime he steps on the ice...
Im not really a Holl supporter, I very much prefer Liljegren. However... Holl with Gio works, and Liljegren is scaring me ever since Keefe sewered his game by feeding him a different partner every 10 minutes.
I'm on the fence as of right now, but I just may lean to Holl come playoff time if it's between the two, under the condition he is stapled to Gio. - joel878
Keefe sewered him when he healthy scratched him for 3 straight games. He was looking great before that and I think it’s a confidence thing now. Scratch him 1 game and see how the pairings work but don’t screw him over like he did. |

Holl is enough to do the trick being with a guy like Giordano, McCabe, and even Brodie when he flips back over to the left, otherwise no, Holl is not the anchor of a pairing, he’s just the guy who can do the trick on his half of the ice, wish he was more physical, but oh well.
And I don’t think the leafs have better shutdown options for the right side |

Wouldn't he have to have some semblance of an Oscar Meyer wiener to perform in said industry? |

That too. It's as if he's googled "how to (frank) with young defenceman". |

Brodie has been rough for a bit too. Not horrible, but not himself. With that in mind I don't disagree.
But as we've discussed previously, I'm not huge on the shutdown angle anyways. Our defence is not gonna rack up the goals, with that largely off the table I just want 3 reliable pairings defensively that can move the puck well.
McCabe/Brodie
Rielly/Schenn
Gio/Holl
Done. Go with it. |

I've no problem with taking that penalty. Guy tries to run him while he's got his head down in a game that's basically out of reach. (frank) him.
And Marner shorthanded goal. Justice. |

I think we underestimate how good Marner is
Edit: underestimate might be the wrong word. Forget how freaking good he is? Maybe that’s a better term. |

I like those pairings as well but I think it’s going to require Keefe becoming more willing to play Schenn. His ice time is typically noticeably less than the regulars (13-14min vs 19-22min). So why is that will play a role, not saying I know what it is, but it’s something. |

Oh, yeah. For sure. He's not Holl bad, but still pretty bad.
Although, I do think it looks like he's trying harder lately. |

Yeah. I haven't really liked anything Keefes done since the deadline at all. Schenns usage is just another fumble in my opinion. He needs to turn Schenn up for the playoffs, we need the bite and durability. |

His use of Schenn has me wondering that’s for sure. Bring in a guy who’s far more physical and has a nice basic defensive approach to improve the team’s lack of that style then don’t play him much.
Huh? |
